I'm in the market for a new reel and my hands are tied between the abu garcia revo sx or the lews tournament speed spool. I've read great things about both reals and wanted a few more opinions. Any advice you guys can give would be great.

Thanks

Both are great reels man.. you are going to hear about 50/50 for either... I am a lews fan and now use their reels exclusively .. you will probably also hear many people say shimano... but I think the revo and tp are greater values than the shimano stuff.. hope this helps.

I have both the Abu Gen 3 Stx and Lews MG. Both are great reels. I enjoy both of them. I see you mentioned you heard great things. Have you held either reel in your hands? Placed them on your rod to look and see if either reel balances well on the rod its going to be paired with? If the answer to either question is no, then I highly recommend you do that first. If you live somewhere where you do not have access to hold both reels then look into tackle warehouse's, borrow or trial program. First find out, if they have the reels you are interested in, if they do utilize that svc.

Lews tss. It has both braking systems. Mine has been a warrior thus far.

i can only speak on the SX.

Pros- casts like a rocket, really smooth, light, can get in high speed gear ratio, looks good, iv thrown everything on it from weightless senkos to 5 inch swimbaits. I love it, I use it more than any other reels I own.

Negatives- extremely touchy. For instance, I can make 100 flawless casts and then itll backlash on me. My S's, Premier, and MGX do not do this. The upside is when this happens, the backlashes are very minimal. I could not throw fluorocarbon with this reel. So I had to switch to braid.
