Good Pliers W A Cutter Which Cuts Braid Good With Holster

Anyone has recommendation of a good pliers with a cutter which cuts braid easily with belt holster?  The pliers needs to be need nose.

Every one I've owned the cutters have gotten dull or nicked, price range from 30 to over a 100, I don't buy them any more. Many of the inexpensive ones have 1 cutter and a flat block, the better ones have 2 cutters.  After spending hundreds of dollars, I now buy a pair at Sears with a no questions asked exchange policy, they get rusted I get a new pair for free.  I just tape a lanyard on to the handle and put in into a sheath.  I burn the braid with a lighter.

A simple, cheap, and very effective braid cutter is the metal cutter found on dental floss dispensers.  It cuts braid as cleanly and easily as it cuts dental floss.  A drop of epoxy will fasten it to the inside of a pliers handle.

I like Sir Snookalot have had issues with pliers which have braid cutters. These issues include both problems with cost and with longevity. I, like SS, came up with a pretty simple solution. I purchase a pair of needle nose pliers from either Sears or Home Depot and a small pair of Fiskar scissors from Staples. Problem solved for less than $10. When they rust out (they haven't in 2 years) you can return the Craftsman pliers to Sears for a no-cost replacement and buy another pair of scissors for $2 or $3. If you happen to lose them, you are still only out $10.

I got a pair of the the Lew's pliers as a rebate for buying a super duty reel and they are amazing.   They have all that you asked for and can be purchased on their site.  Cut braid like a dream

The best thing I've ever found to cut braid is a pair of small Gerber scissors.  Straight blade, no ripples, nothing special, bought at Walmart for less than $5.  My current pair have lasted more than 5 years and cut as well now as when I bought them.  I hate Gerber knives because their metal is almost impossible to sharpen but in a pair of scissors, they are just the ticket.

Check out the Pop Snagger.  I have one and it cuts braid, cleans hook eyes, threads hooks, sharpens hooks.

BPS has Browning, they are great pliers with a cutter built in it. I have had it for several years now and still going strong.

I just carry the cheap pliers that i replace when they crap out on me. For cutting braid i just use my pocket knife that i carry everywhere with me.

Braid cutters on pliers work fine in freshwater, in the salt they need to be replaced more often and for me they just haven't lasted.  Mounting a cutting edge from dental floss or a PP package is really a good idea, but I don't want a clean cut.  I singe my braid as to put a bead on the tip, it helps in preventing pull thru, it makes whatever knot you're using even better.

Fiskars kiddie scissors.  IMHO, braid will dull cutters faster than anything.

Leatherman Juice S2. A compact multi tool with pliers and a big scissor. The sheath carries it 2 ways.

I don't bother cutting braid with a pair of pliers or a pocket knife anymore.

 

I really love my Rapala super line scissors they retail for $4.99 and they are great. Had mine for a year and a half and it cuts braid so easily.
