Nope, never. But I'd be matching that puppy with a black, or green pumpkin Finesse or Trick worm, LOL.

Honestly the more that I look at it the more it looks less like a leech and more like a sea lampray...Can anyone confirm if this is actually a leech? Was looking up pictures of leeches they have here and everything i've seen looks nothing like this.

I agree.  It looks like it has fins at the tail.

Looks like a lamprey to me.

Be careful with them. While some are invasive and detrimental to the fish population, others are protected species and removing them could mean a big fine!

First time i've ever caught a fish with one of these on them. I took it off the fish, thought about using it for bait but threw it back in the water after I threw the fish back.

I catch a lot of bass with leeches stuck to the roof of their mouth, but their little ones. That thing looks like a lamprey to me, if it's a leech it's a monster!

it's a lamprey, i did some investigative research.

It's a lamprey and it's definitely NOT a protected species around here (MI). We have special dams set up with a catch basin to catch and kill these things! They're an invasive species. Next time you see one kill it!

Yea i did some research and figured out what it was and that they were invasive. Next time i see one it will be killed. I remember seeing a river monsters episode on these things

Did you catch it in the Great Lakes or one of it's tributaries? or inland? I'd be concerned if it was inland and you may want to inform the DNR. We see them mostly on trout or salmon.

Caught it inland, about 35 miles inland from Lake Michigan, and I didn't even catch this fish on the river. The place I was fishing comes off the Grand River, huge pond/small lake.

With the thousands and thousands of bass I've caught never have i seen any kind of gross leech/lamprey etc before. I always assumed they live in dirty water with lots of muck an other nasty crap ??  If thats true then it makes perfect sense since all the body's of water around me are very clean.

Lampreys prefer clear water., but they will go wherever the host takes them.

Leeches will live anywhere and everywhere.
