buzzfrog Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 hey I love the mag; don't have cable so I have never really watched FLW on tv, not sure if they stream like bass. I was at gfs parents for super and beforehand I caught a tournament on demand. I notice they use nets, pretty sure elites don't do that. What are the differences in the tournaments? Also on speculation and not knocking the pros, Sine the are more than likely 10x better than me on there worst day, but I noticed bags were small and some of the pros were missing or loosing fish left and right. One guy had nothing but spinning rods on his deck using them for all applications, Again not knocking it cause in honestly it felt like I was just watching a bass club tournament, it was enjoyable , made me feel like I could do it. Sorry if this has been done before; I am tabbed over on the other page seeing I can find full tournament like BASS does. EDIT: found full episodes yea buddy, kill me a whole day soon, maybe a rainy day Quote
Rangerphil Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Use of nets is one difference also I know FLW allows the Alabama rig where B.A.S.S. does not. As far as talent I think they are evenly matched and maybe FLW has a small edge! I think they just show some of the mistakes more than B.A.S.S. does! Quote
buzzfrog Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 yes, I love the mistakes, lol makes me feel like I can fish like em, I also see elite pros fishing in them, guess you can do double duty.. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 12, 2013 Super User Posted July 12, 2013 Money. Some of the pros have said that the FLW payouts are better than BASS, especially the FLW Classic. Multiple hooks. As stated above, FLW allows multiple hook rigs while BASS does not. Nets. Never seen a net in a BASS tournament. Have seen them in FLW tournaments. And yes, the pros can fish both. How about you trying your luck in one of the BASS Opens??? You may have a great time and meet some of the pros and make some lifelong friends among the other guys and gals fishing and working the event. If you join FLW you can get their magazine, just like BASS. Quote
robdob Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 You or I can enter an FLW tour event if we had a legal boat and enough money. You actually have to qualify for the B.A.S.S elite series. 3 Quote
Curtis B. Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 EDIT: found full episodes yea buddy, kill me a whole day soon, maybe a rainy day I would be interested in watching these, mind sharing where you found them? Quote
PABASS Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I would be interested in watching these, mind sharing where you found them? FLW website has full episodes as does there smartphone app, the app contains less episodes then the website, fyi.. Personally I like them both, but I enjoy the FLW more because they have college fishing which I think is awesome. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I like Bass better because I think A-rigs should not be in tournaments-isnt that why trolling was banned early on-to make anglers use a single rod/reel at a time which had just 1 lure.........anyway every FLW tournament on TV except the early Florida flippin one is an A-rig fest, no strategy/talent needed like the Bass Elites. Also both have college tournaments-just watch ESPN-U for the BASS ones, but to me a bunch of spoiled rich kids acting like Iaconelli means I'll watch something else. Quote

The Bassmaster Elite Series are $100,000 each but there are 8 tournaments. The Forrest Wood Cup and The Bassmaster Classic are both $500,000 this year. No difference here. Quote

I would say that the top 20 guys in each organization are solid and close to equal (some of them are actually in both, I.E. Jason Christie). I think the talent pool in BASS is deeper because of the qualification requirements. FLW majors that have 150+ boats in them have a lot of guys who have money or are just really good at selling product for their sponsors and have their way paid in. Quote
Curtis B. Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I like BASS better simply because I know more of the competitors. And I am with zell_pop1, I am not an A-Rig fan. Quote
