Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 5, 2013 Super User Posted July 5, 2013 Anyone else have Fishing Spots downloaded on their phone? I'm not sure if its on the android market or not. I found it couple days ago and it is very handy. People post fishing locations and a pic of what they caught. It also links to your current location so it makes navigation simple. This will become my most used app on my phone! Quote
CiMo Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Didn't see it in the android market under "Fishing Spots". Is that the full name? Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted July 6, 2013 Super User Posted July 6, 2013 Cool app, but do you really want to be reporting your actual spots?? LOL. Quote
aquaholic Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 How many serious fisherman would let spots be known to the entire public? Quote

Yea Cool app, but do you really want to be reporting your actual spots?? LOL. I wouldn't at all! I'll let people I fish with come to my spots but not the general public. When I come to south fl I expect you to take me to some of your spots lol. How many serious fisherman would let spots be known to the entire public? Me, you, and Lou wouldn't but a lot of people on this app do lol. You won't find any of my spots on there but I will go to theirs Quote
MDH713 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I have that app. Its a pretty decent app if you're a bank fisherman and like finding new ponds/lakes to fish. Only problem though is that half of them people list all say private or are neighborhood ponds. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 AK-NJ, you make down here, and we will go out to the Glades together. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 Must be a generational thing here. I only want to use my smartphone while I'm fishing is for an occasional photo or important or emergency phone call. If I can't remember where I'm at, which is doubtful, setting the location feature on the camera and snap a pic of a tree or landmark, transfer it when I get home to my personal map on my pc that no one sees. Any information such as weather and tides are obtained long before I leave home to go fishing. My target, location, gear and clothing have already been decided, I leave home with a game plan. If I fish a freshwater public spot I have no problem giving out that info, saltwater my lips are sealed. Reason is simple, many places I fish early in the morning I want it quiet. Nothing I dislike more than the chaos and noise of someone throwing a castnet, not only may fish be spooked but we could get asked to leave, I'm not going to risk that. Quote

Yea freshwater fishing is way more private than saltwater fishing. I can count on my hand te amount of times I ran into someone at one of my freshwater spots. I don't do too much saltwater fishing but I'd imagine you run into a lot of people, unless you have your secret AM spot like you do snook so you don't come into contact with other fishermen. Quote

O yeah I am definitely going to have to hold you to that. I did an airboat ride in the glades when I was I vacation with fam, I lived in NJ at time and was just visiting so I didn't get a chance to fish but man did I want to! Quote
aquaholic Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I looked for it on android but must only be an iphone thing. They must know us android users are more into catching fish than posting artistic photos of them to instagram 2 Quote
