So I'm sure I'm not the only one who has heard it time and time again... Costa's are the best glasses. Well, I use a pair of $30 Crossfire Infinity's and they have done me well for awhile. Eventually, I'd like to spluge on a pair of Costa's, but dangit they have so many options I don't know where to begin!

What's just a good all around pair of Costa's?

I have a pair of Blackfin 580G blue mirror.  I also have a pair of Fathoms that broke.  The Fathoms are lighter.  But, I like the look of the Blackfins better and they completely block out the sun.  The Blackfins make you lose some peripheral vision though.

Your really need to go to a store and try on what frames fit your face. The best lenses they make are the 580g. If you search around the website they have a section that breaks down which lense is for what.

Yeah, go to a place that sells them and find which pair fit you the best. I got the 580 glass in copper and couldn't be happier. That lense is great for sight fishing.

Definitely consider the 580G lenses, but do try on the many styles because each will fit your face differently. I tried mine on at Bass Pro before buying on ebay.

The ones I thought I wanted did not fit me well...

I have a pair of Wavekillers and a pair of Fathoms. The fathoms are lighter. Although the Wavekillers are larger, I prefer their superior sun coverage. I have found that when it comes to the lenses, the mirror color doesn't really make a major difference. Just make sure they're polarized.

I've just found that Costa's 1) fit my face better, and 2) have the color/clarity that I am looking for.  I have a pair with 580G green mirror, and it has done wonders with my ability to determine underwater cover and structure from the deck.  I tried on a bunch at BPS, then went searching on the web to find the best deal possible.  Trying them on was a must for me.

The color of the mirror doesnt matter but the base color that come with each does. With the blue mirror you can only get grey lenses and there is a huge difference between a  gray base and a amber/copper base. You really notice the difference when looking for beds.

580g lenses with which ever frame u prefer. As far as costas being the best glasses, i'm not so sure. I have a pair of costas that sit on a shelf while i wear my 30$ strike king. I have a pair of bolle, costas and wiley x but i prefer the strike kings that a buddy left on my boat a year ago.

All of the advice given to you is spot on. Go to a BPS or other Costa provider and try them all out and then make a decision. My brother in law made the mistake of accepting a pair of Costa's and kept them although they were tight behind the ears. They still drive him nuts although they are awesome lenses. Do not make the same mistake. Sun glasses should fit like a comfortable pair of shoes. You are going to be wearing them for hours, you should not be uncomfortable during that time.

I love my Costas, here is what I did when choosing.

Fit: Like everyone said go try different frames and get a pair that fits perfectly.

Lense color: Everyones eyes are different, check out all the lense colors when out fishing with friends who have the Costa's. I went with the amber because of my fishing style and the fact that I saw shapes in the water better with them.

Lense material: I liked the glass, but they were heavier and only impact resistant to 60mph. I drive my boat faster than that at times and did not want to switch glasses all the time. Mainly because I knew I wouldn't, and I never want to take a chance with my eyes. So I went with the poly carb.

Good Luck, half the fun is trying all the options out!

I have a pair with the 580G and love them.  Well worth the money.  $249 at Cabela's less the coupon.

It's true that everyone's eyes are different and you need to try different frame styles to see what fits you personally. However, I highly recommend the 580 lenses in Green mirror and Silver mirror for freshwater bass fishing. They are copper based lenses and offer great protection in multiple lighting conditions, while offering great vision under the surface. I have a pair of Zanes in Green mirror and love them. Don't think I will ever buy a different kind.
