Looking for something between 6 # & 15 # test.

Bought some cheap  ...Mills Ends....45 # test. Cast beautiful in very windy weather on my spinning reel. Also bought some 50 lb test Spider Wire. It cast good also. is there a huge casting difference for more money ?

Looking for REASONABLy priced stuff. Not Pro fisherman stuff.

Thanks Rich

Can't speak on others since I've never tried them, but I use 10lb. Power Pro and I love it. The moss green color blends pretty well and it outcasts everything else I have; probably because of its super thin diameter.

I've got 15lb test Power Pro on all my spinning combos.  It casts great and the strength is top notch.  I generally use an 8 or 10lb fluoro leader with it.  (A whole separate discussion, I know, but I like the yellow PP.)

cyclops2 I've tested many brands of braid, for most of my setups I ended up with power pro. I'm playing with Spider Wire on one set up but don't see much of a change.

This year I've changed all my spinning combos over to braid, and if needed add a leader of mono or fluoro depending on what I'm throwing.

I would go Suffix 832 or Power Pro as others have posted!

I only use the standard green 20# Power Pro on spinning gear, have for years.

Thought about going lighter but given the diameter of the 20 I really don't see the need to.

Pretty much sums up my thinking as well. I've switched from regular Power Pro to their new Super 8 Slick line though and couldn't be happier. 20# S8S flies off a spinning reel resulting in great casting distance.

For me, bass fishing, it begins, and ends with original  moss green Power Pro. Cheap, effective, reliable, and available everywhere. I use 10, 15, + 20 lb test on spinning gear (with 6,8,10, or 12lb. fluoro. leaders as needed), and 20, 30, + 50lb test on casting gear (with 10, 12, 15, 17, or 20lb. fluoro leaders). For pan fishing, I have my UL set spooled up with 4lb Nanofil, and I don't care for it. It freys way too easy, is not as smooth/easy handling as Power Pro, I have broken the 4lb Nanofil way easier than I have the 4lb fluorocarbon leader I tie to it, and it likes to twist and holds memory. It will be switched out for 4 or 5lb test Power Pro when I get a chance.

832 and Tuf Line Supercast in 6, 8, 10lb. Great lines. PP is good too, and thinner, but I find it less abrasion resistant and doesn't seem to last me as long.

I know quite a few charter captains here and most of them to my knowledge us Power Pro.  Power Pro IMO is reasonably priced and it the middle of the pack as far as strength to diameter goes.  The 2 strongest lines that I have read reviews on are Triple Fish and Spider Wire ultra cast, this would be 1 site's opinion http://www.sportfishingmag.com/techniques/initial-dry-break-strength.

For the most part I'm a PP user, I like the price and I like the fact I can buy it any where any time, and it's served me well.  On a lark I bought a spool of Zebco braid, it's on seldom used outfit but have caught some really nice barracuda on it, for the $$ I can't complain.

Power Pro or Suffix braided line. SeaGuar also makes an excellent line as does Daiwa.

Heard good things about the Bass Pro braid also.

Thanks everybody.

I am satisfied with the Spider Wire Stelth braid 50 pound test in moss green..

I like it for being able to straighten the bendable wire trebles on 6 & 10" lures when dug into thick reeds. I almost pulled the 5# largemouth straight in with it.

I fish with 4# for small fish. But Pike eat the 4# lures. So I now come back with a big lure & the 50# line.

Transplant the pike to another area for someone else who enjoys them.

I get a few loose wind knots. none bad.

You'll love the Power Pro Micro Braid. I have my UL reel (Stradic FI 1000) spooled with 5# white PP Micro Braid and couldn't be happier with the stuff. To be fair though it is the first brand of braid that I've tried in this low a pound test so take it for what it's worth. MB is only a 3 carrier braid but it is super manageable and casts really light lures a long way. Good stuff IMHO.

I think you would be very happy with 20 lb. Sufix Performane Braid. 11 bucks for a 100 yard spool. Plenty to fill a spool with s a little mono backing. Great line!

I'm at the point now that I almost exclusively have 10lb Nanofil on all of my spinning rods with 8-10lb flouro leader.  Great line.
