Super User slonezp Posted May 25, 2013 Super User Posted May 25, 2013 These boneheads in IL still can't come up with a CCW law. Idiots Quote
bwell Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Yeah, I hope they keep messing around. It would be nice to have open carry lol. They need to leave the rest of Illinois alone and make Chicago a gun free city. They do that and the crime will go WAY down... Morons... Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted May 28, 2013 Super User Posted May 28, 2013 Might oughta move down south. We let dang near everyone carry. Be it concealed or open carry. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted May 29, 2013 Super User Posted May 29, 2013 Yeah, I hope they keep messing around. It would be nice to have open carry lol. They need to leave the rest of Illinois alone and make Chicago a gun free city. They do that and the crime will go WAY down... Morons... Legally or not, the bad guys will always have guns. Just like drugs, there will always be a black market for bad things in this world. Let the honest, law abiding citizens at least have a chance to protect themselves when you can't rely on a cop of every street corner. Most of the murders in Chicago are gang related shootings. Those gang bangers won't bother signing up for CCW I promise you that. But, it may give them a second thought about jacking a mans briefcase or lady's handbag or robbing a convenience store etc..... or perhaps not. Other places have proven its helpful to have that lingering thought of "are they carrying?". 1 Quote

Super User slonezp Posted June 17, 2013 Author Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Law has been passed thru congress but hasn't taken effect. Quinn is sitting on it. He has until July 9th to sign it http://www.courierpress.com/news/2013/jun/07/no-headline---concealed_carry/ Quote
bwell Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Is it going to be worth it to carry? Seems like you cant go anywhere with the law that has been written. Quote
unageo09 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 It was fairly easy to get a carry permit here in Alabama. Went to the local sheriff's department and got the form. Brought it home and filled it out. Had to list three references that weren't related to you. Turned it in and about 3 days later they called and said it was ready for pickup. Paid my $15 and that was it. I think they have recently passed a law that will allow non permit owners to carry a gun in your vehicle as long as its not loaded and not within hands reach. I guess this is for folks going to the range and such and they would worry about getting stopped and ticketed. Quote

Super User slonezp Posted July 9, 2013 Author Super User Posted July 9, 2013 Conceal Carry passed the Governor's veto today.the following are remarks from Governor Pat Quinn.Today’s action by members of the General Assembly was extremely disappointing.Following a weekend of horrific violence in Chicago in which at least 70 people were shot and 12 killed, this was the wrong move for public safety in Illinois.Members of the Illinois House could not even manage to pass follow-up legislation that included a few of the critical changes that I outlined last week, such as improved mental health reporting and the duty to immediately inform law enforcement officers of the possession of a loaded concealed weapon.Throughout the legislative session, I made clear that any concealed carry law must have common-sense standards. I pushed for a ban on assault weapons, limits on high-capacity ammunition magazines and local option for home-rule communities, among other reasonable restrictions. I met with legislators regularly and discussed these standards in my State of the State address and all across the state of Illinois.Yet, despite my objections, members of the General Assembly surrendered to the National Rifle Association in the waning days of session and passed a flawed bill that allows people to carry guns in establishments that serve alcohol, and allows people to carry unlimited guns and unlimited high-capacity ammunition magazines. In a supreme overreach, this bill even included the National Rifle Association’s trademark provision – a ban on future assault weapon bans in home-rule communities – which has nothing to do with the concealed carry of handguns.Public safety should never be compromised or negotiated away.It was wrong on May 31 and it’s wrong today. We will keep fighting for these critical provisions that will save lives and establish a better, more responsible concealed carry law in Illinois. Super User MarkH024 Posted July 10, 2013 Super User Posted July 10, 2013 He failed to mention that all the shootings as of late are in the ghettos and gang related. These are the last people to consider ccw however they may think twice now about sticking a gun in someones face. Those shootings will never stop so it doesn't matter. What matters is that responsible gun owner's can protect themselves and possibly prevent murderous crimes from these same thugs. Its about d**n time. 1 Quote
