Bass Dude Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Theres a picture on the live blog showing Shaw tied up to a tree and the caption reads that he had to tie up to get a good position to fish. Isn't that considered anchored and therefore illegal in BASS tournies?? Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I know he is already culling by 8:30. Just caught a nice 4 lb. spot Quote

kylek Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 since this topic is all about Shaw.. what the heck does he have at the end of his rods and what are they for? Quote
Bass Dude Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 since this topic is all about Shaw.. what the heck does he have at the end of his rods and what are they for? I believe they are counter-weights. It balances out the weight of your rod and reel. Sometimes with a long rod, they get a little top heavy and that will eliminate that. Quote
Zach Dunham Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I quickly looked through the official rules for 2013 and I did not find anything about anchoring. I searched for the word anchor and the computer found nothing either. I thought there might at least be some mention of it. http://www.bassmaster.com/sites/default/files/imce/2013EliteRules.pdf Quote

Maybe it's FLW that has that rule, but then, like you say....Power Poles would be an issue. I would have bet money that there was a no anchor rule. Oh well....I can say it.....I was wrong!! Good research though!! Quote

Super User eyedabassman Posted May 10, 2013 Super User Posted May 10, 2013 I do beleave he was legal to tie up as long as he does not leave the boat! Quote
james 14 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 The things at the end of his rod are to cushion it when it digs into your gut while fighting a fish or setting the hook. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 10, 2013 Super User Posted May 10, 2013 I do beleave he was legal to tie up as long as he does not leave the boat! I beleive eyed is correct. In our Virginia B.A.S.S. state federation, local region and bass clubs there are no rules against anchoring your boat. I do it all the time when the wind or current moves the boat out of position. Super User MarkH024 Posted May 10, 2013 Super User Posted May 10, 2013 From the blog on Bassmaster, it appears many guys are doing this to fish the heavy current. Chapman included. Quote
