Berkley Havoc Baits

Received a pkg. of Pit Boss baits today as part of my club renewal pkg. and was wondering what you guys think of the Havoc baits in general.  I've used their Power baits and wasn't impressed enough to switch over to them.  I like the fact that these baits appear to be tougher than other beaver style baits I've tried and they are molded with a grove on the top side for more hook exposure while still remaining weedless.  When it comes to soft plastics I've learned not to go by appearances when making a purchase decision.

Experienced reviews would be appreciated.

I liked them (Pit Boss) for punching applications. I haven't tried Havoc baits (also fished the Devil's Spear while punching) for any other sort of fishing. I have my favorite baits for T-rigging and jig trailers, and they're made by SK Rage/ Reaction Innovations/ GYCB.

Havoc baits are great! The Pit Boss is one of my 3 go to plastics! Insane action.

OK,how come I can't find the Devils spear in any of my stores! I was thinking they stopped making it.I wanted to get some for my swim jigs!

I liked the ones I tried first (grass pig, devil spear, slop craw) enough to add a few more to try this year. I added the pit boss, craw fatty, rocket craw, bottom hopper, and sick fish. The ones I tried all produced well, and at $2.99 a pack I am not out a lot if I don't like any of the new to me ones I am trying this year.

Havoc line up is my favorite. I have had a lot of success on them and the prices are great. 

 

Pit boss and the craw fatty are my favorite pitching baits out there. I've caught some real pigs on the craw fatty. Also did decent with the rocket craw last year as well. 

 

Subwoofer and grass pig are great as a swim jig trailer. Subwoofer is my number 1 producer on a swim jig.

 

Devil spear is great for punching. 

 

Juice worm produced for me last spring. I never got around to buying more and kinda forgot about them until your post. 

 

The only one I didn't like was the slop craw, for some reason I just didn't get much for bites on it. I also did so-so with the Wide Load but probably won't buy anymore.

It's my favorite for flipping/pitching.  They are great, it worked so well that I decided to try out the bottom hoppers for this season.  If they continue to produce I think I have my favorite line.

Same here. The subwoofer matches 3 of my favorite Flip n Swim's from NSCB to a T!

The Pit Boss, Craw Fatty, Sick Fish, Deuce, Rocket Craw, Grass Pig, Juice Worm, all great baits. Haven't caught anything on a Devil's Spear, even on my "practice lakes".

one of the best lines of plastics out there right now imo.  I've loved everything havoc that I've thrown.  while other soft plastic companies are claiming "innovation" ripping off pre-existing designs and charging an arm and a leg for it, Berkley havoc is producing some creative, rock solid baits that catch bass for under 3 bucks per pack.  that's the kind of innovation I like.

I just bought a couple packages of sick fish... they look great but I don't quite know how to rig them.  I got both sizes- nose hook the small one and swimbait hook the bigger one?

They are fantastic lures. The pit boss is one of my very favorite creature baits and catches me tons of fish.

I just bought a couple packages of sick fish... they look great but I don't quite know how to rig them.  I got both sizes- nose hook the small one and swimbait hook the bigger one?

there are some rigging vids on youtube  "sick fish". I use a 4/0 swimbait hook in the 4 inch, someone else said 5/0 works better for them

I'm with Diggy and love the 4". I initially bought the smaller version but think the 4" will be my favorite. This bait is DURABE. Not only after catching fish, but after missing a strike or hitting a stick, the bait doesn't have to be adjusted.

Havoc baits are awesome! I am a rage craw kinda guy, BUT I do also like the rocket craw. The pit boss is my absolute favorite beaver style bait. I believe it has more action than just about any beaver type bait on the market. A close second fav of mine is the SK Rodent.

 

Subwoofer is an awesome swim jig trailer and I have also had successs with them fishing it like a Zoom Fluke in some ponds. For the budget angler, they definitely have their place. You cant beat 2.99$!!

x10.. I attempted to skip mine today under a boardwalk, hit some dock pilings at 100mph quite a few times and the bait is still together like nothing happened.

My favorite is the Subwoofer. Swim it on top for a top water bait. Add weight and swim it for suspended fish. Add to a scrounger or swim jig. Fun lure to fish with.

Just in the interest of fairness, and seriously not wanting to start an argument here at all, but some of the new Berkley Havoc baits are neither creative, nor in the view of some, ethical. The Beat Shad is a pretty obvious copy of a Keitech Swing Impact, and the Sick Fish is a pretty obvious copy of a Little Creeper All American Trash Fish. My understanding is that the owner of LIttle Creeper was compensated for his design, but I don't know about Keitech. This debate has been well documented elsewhere and I don't intend to cause a flame fest here because, bottom line, buy what you like and can afford and have fun fishing, but I just thought I should point out that while the Berkley baits are good baits that definitely catch fish, they aren't ALL original designs.

Havoc baits are the dominant brand on baits I have in my tackle bag! The Pit Boss is killer, recently tried the Wide Load with lots of success. The Juice Worm and Grass Pig are also good baits.

all good man.  and you are right.  I don't think any soft plastic company can claim all original designs.  and I am certainly not brand loyal.  the thing I like most about the havoc line is that they have really pushed the envelope on price point for quality, fish catching soft plastics.  to me that's the biggest thing they've got going for them.  you can literally buy two packs of havoc for only a buck more than what one pack of other brands cost.   if you can catch just as many fish and save a couple of bucks in the process, that's win-win in my book. 

 

of course when saving money REALLY matters, creme plastics are good and only cost $1.99 per pack.

I like fishing the Pit Boss, productive bait. I do find it ironic that Berkely which has done more to promote scented plastics as a difference maker in catching fish is having a lot of success with the Havoc line which to the best of my knowledge are unscented & unsalted. It seems obvious to me that action & profile seem to be more important to the fish than a special scent formula. That said I do apply a little smelly jelly on the bait just in case and to mask my human scent.

Havoc is my favorite lineup of baits. I use the smash tube, craw fatty, slop craw and pit boss. all of these have produced for my very well, the rest of the line up is good too but these are standouts to me. especially for 2.99. I also like that they do not have a sent I usually use yum F2 in crawfish anyway.
