Comfortably Numb Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 These look really good. The down imaging especially. Guess we will see. Found the base model for $572. http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=6855 Quote
paul25 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 That does look really good, let us know when you try it out how it works i've been seeing these advertised and was wondering about them, thats a really good price too. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Glenn and the Moderators attended a Webinar to review the Dragonfly. The more you look into this, the more impressed you will be. We are all looking forward to on-water member reviews. State-of-the art technology at a reasonable price. I think you are really going to like this upgrade on your boat! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Well at least Raymarine made an intelligent foray into the imaging market with a dual technology unit. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 This unit is so well thought out, and feature packed. Can't wait to get on the water with it! Quote
SDoolittle Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Let us know how you like it. As someone who is technologically challenged, I'm interested in how user friendly it is. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Based on our training, the unit is set up with defaults that suit most waters. The interface is simply a joystick and a dial. From what I saw, the OS was very easy to understand. Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 This one looks like a real winner. Priced right too. I think we are going to be hearing a lot about this advancement in sonar technology. Wish the video would have shown more real time images so we could get an idea of just how it might improve our "seeing". Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Looks like still a couple more weeks till available Quote
3dees Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 looks like a nice unit, but for the same price I would go with the new Lawrence Elite 7 for the larger screen and for 100.00 more you will add GPS. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 28, 2013 Super User Posted March 28, 2013 Congrats ~ If the user reviews match the hype and expectations, there is a good chance it will be replacing my unit as well. A-Jay Quote
Super User Teal Posted March 28, 2013 Super User Posted March 28, 2013 Congrats ~ If the user reviews match the hype and expectations, there is a good chance it will be replacing my unit as well. A-Jay Same here. Im done with rods/reels,baits,line and basicallyy everything else except for boat fuel until I upgrade both units. I have been doing research alot of the different units, features and prices and right now the Dragonfly is on the shortlist. I am def intrigued by it. I love the price too.. 1 Quote

Base model Dragonfly has GPS but no maps (maps are not available for most lakes I fish). The Di on the Elite 7 is crappy, very similar to my Humminbird di. The Di on the Dragonfly looks comparable if not better than the Lowrance HDS series. I agree that a larger screen is nice but mainly for Side image or split screen. Quote
bullett 21 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 A friend of mine has this same unit ,on his pond sled.He seems to like it alot ,really easy to use to . Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 28, 2013 Super User Posted March 28, 2013 Base model Dragonfly has GPS but no maps It has base maps, like every other GPS, and a slot for Navionics or Hot Maps chips. 1 Quote

Comfortably Numb Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 No Wayne. Just taking a chance on it. I dont love my HB 898c si and cant afford a HDS. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 They are not available yet as far as I know and what Raymarine tells me. Or are you refering to the Elite? A friend of mine has this same unit ,on his pond sled.He seems to like it alot ,really easy to use to . Quote
