Super User rockchalk06 Posted March 15, 2013 Super User Posted March 15, 2013 It's great to read that it was released after it was official. Yup! I think it's time to head to Cedar Lake! 3 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted March 15, 2013 Super User Posted March 15, 2013 The record last year was also released. Any chance at all that it is the same fish? Just a thought 1 Quote
TrapperJ Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 I thought that too. But surely she gained more than 1.xx ounce in a year? Quote
PondBoss Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 You would like to think that a fish would grow more than that in a years time, but if that was the case why is the state record only 14 and not 20? lol As for same fish, seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened for sure. Did they say if it was Northern strain or Florida? Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 It didn't survive release. http://www.tulsaworld.com/blogs/sportspost.aspx?/Oklahoma_state_record_largemouth_bass_died__and_thats_OK/37-19493 Quote
TrapperJ Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 dang that sux, i still want to go fish that little lake though. Quote
PondBoss Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Interesting read, did anyone else take away from it the same thing that I did? Guess I should have kept that 10lb beast instead of throwing her back. Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I took away that putting that much stress on such a fragile, and beautiful creature just to have my name on a piece of paper isnt worth it. A C.P.R. with quick release is good enough for me. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 21, 2013 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2013 well MR i think its alot more then a piece of paper. to my knowledge u get a ton of poblicity and a ton of companys send you a bunch of free stuff thats just what i heard at least Not for a state record. You might get your picture in a companies catalog with your fish and maybe a little free stuff but more than likely it will just be your name on a piece of paper for catching a fish that only a few people know about. Sounds like they did their best to keep the fish alive but a fish that size was probably towards the end of it's lifespan anyways and may have had less than a year left had it not been caught anyways. A world record is a whole different story, at least if it's one of the more popular species. I doubt the guy who caught the world record drum had people knocking down his door to get the story and offer endorsements Quote
