aharris Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Got a tournament coming up at the end of March. Water temps should be in the high 50's-low 60's. From what I remember, there's one big grass flat on the lake (2' - 3' water depth). Would I be crazy to throw a frog or would you just pick it apart with a jig or tx rig? Quote
5fishlimit Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I don't think it's crazy at all to throw a frog. I was fishing this weekend end, and saw a monster bullfrog in the water and I'm in Ohio. Quote
Coonedawg Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Adam, nothing you throw will outproduce my jerkbait. I'll see you at the tournament. 1 Quote
Jaiden Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I like hollow bodies around this time so I can walk the lure right over a bed. Quote
jkarol24 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I would be fishing the first drop off or channel swing adjacent to the grass flat, I would guess the bigger females will be staging on this break. Alternatively, you may want to see if there is a depression in the grass flat, they could be staging there as well. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 13, 2013 Super User Posted March 13, 2013 I would...................I mean.....NO, never, don't throw a frog that early, or waste your time throwing one late in the year either.... Quote

You better be throwing a soft plastic one or your fingers will be green from picking off the grass. Just dont set the bar too high for yourself...2nd place isnt that bad. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 13, 2013 Super User Posted March 13, 2013 I wouldn't say it won't work, the rules of bass fishing are very flexible. That being said, with those water temps? It would be a fluking day for me. You can work it like a topwater and also let is settle into the weeds if you like. Quote
