Hanover_Yakker Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Just ordered a tube of the original, probably will snag some of the craw at some point. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 12, 2013 Super User Posted March 12, 2013 Hootie, I use the original. The original has worked for me and I see no reason to change now. But I am old and set in my ways so you use whatever flavor you want. You can't go wrong with MegaStrike. 1 Quote
TNBassin' Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I was wondering this too. Good thread, good info. Quote

RyneB Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 original for me. I had to order my buddy some on my last TW order. On a trip to Wisconsin last year, i put on a fish catching clinic while he was hanging out with the skunk. We were both using the same line, jig, and trailer. Only difference was i was using Megastrike. The other reason i like it is its not messy and doesnt have a completely awful smell. I have tried the fish sticks, sprays etc. They all would either melt, or leak and smell up everything. I keep my Megastrike tube in its original plastic packaging and have never had it melt or leak anywhere. Ease of use goes a long way with me. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted March 13, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 13, 2013 Okay, thanks a bunch guys. I just stopped by DSG this morning and picked up a tube of MegaStrike original as everyone suggested. Will be giving it a try Friday. Hootie Quote
BassCats Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Berkley made Powerbait Berkley made Gulp Now they make Havoc, a nonscented plastic what does that tell us? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 14, 2013 Super User Posted March 14, 2013 what does that tell us? That their pros wanted unscented baits, so they could use their own. That market research showed a gap in their line, and they filled it with a cheaper, unscented bait, or that same research revealed that consumers wanted unscented baits. That research showed sometimes bass show a preference for unscented baits. Who knows. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 They have been pushing smell /taste for twenty five years- HMMMMM Ive been pushing smiles on anglers faces and $$$$$ in their wallets. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 14, 2013 Super User Posted March 14, 2013 Powerbait scent works alone. I remember the difference side by side with Culprits with how long the fish held onto the baits. I still rub Powerbaits down with Megastrike. Something about the slime, and my confidence factor. I've never seen a bass repelled by the stuff. It's just one of those products I don't like to be without. It's become part of my fishing. I even use it steelhead fishing. Gets a little thick when temps are in the teens though. Quote

Please explain how you use it for steelhead. What lures are you using and what scent. I've tried everything and can't catch a dang one. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 15, 2013 Super User Posted March 15, 2013 I centrepin Lake Ontario and Erie tributaries. Look up the technique on Youtube, there's tons of videos. You just smear a small dab on a Berkley Trout Worm. You can also use JJ's. I used red JJ's to turn a corn colored worm bright orange. I also smeared the worm with Megastrike. There were three fly fishers working the hole before me, to no avail. they laughed at me, called me a knuckle dragging 'pinner. Even said I must be a bass guy, since I had all those tricks. One drift in that hole, and I hooked up. Respect. Quote
Zeeso Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Was in Dicks just browsing some fishing kayaks and picked up a tube of megastrike. Surprised they had it, ours local Dicks seems to be run by a bunch of incompetents I don't think I have ever came across a product (lures or terminal tackle) that was on the correct rack. I have to manually search all the surrounding racks and match up the bar codes to find out how much an item costs. Either that or walk around with an employee that can scan every single item I pick up. Quote
