Super User Sam Posted February 23, 2013 Super User Posted February 23, 2013 No, the Equalizer is not a professional wrestler. It is a small pnumamtic tube assist system for your trolling motor. This two tube system reduces the pressure by at least half when putting your trolling motor in the water or taking it out. For more information about this system that you can install yourself please contact Robbie at Propeller Dynamics in Chester, Virginia, 804.706.1847. Tell him Sam sent you. They come in two types. The one I had put on my trolling motor by Robbie is the stainless steel version. This enhancement will help save your back and reduce the probability of having your trolling motor rope fail on the water. It is not only great for you young guns out there but a wonderful back saving system for us old goats. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 23, 2013 Super User Posted February 23, 2013 I've had that setup since last fall. The product name is recent though. This is an example of the install. It is for Motor Guide bow trolling motors only. Quote

All Robbie said was to be careful using the assist system until you get used to it or you can throw yourself out of the boat. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 24, 2013 Super User Posted February 24, 2013 You must not have been paying attention to what he was saying. Just the opposite occurs. Not having it, with the weight of the motor, some get off balance when deploying the motor. The Equalizer removes that chance since the motor is about weightless as you let it down. It you deploy it too slowly, you will have to push it down to latch it. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 25, 2013 Author Super User Posted February 25, 2013 I was paying attention to what Robbie said. He said, very clearly, to be careful the first few times you pull the trolling motor as it will be much easier than expected. Maybe he meant when deploying the trolling motor. Either way, I will be careful until I get used to using it with the Equalizers attached. Quote
