I just found one at a pawn shop for 150. The dang thing looks brand spanking new. No scratches or blemishes. It cranks extremely smooth too. The shop is looking to unload it and are quite negotiable on it. Ive never seen one before. Any of yall ever used one before? Is it worth the money?

I have the 201d. They were originally about $199 when they first came out.  Being that they have been discontinued for some time, even if new, I agree with jb. I wouldn't buy it for that price.

It is an awesome reel and it's built like a tank. You will not be disappointed. Perhaps you should browse ebay to see what they're going for there. It is a fair barometer of their true worth.

Luckily, you mentioned pawn shop.  One thing that some people don't realize is that many times prices are negotiable.  You ought to be able to talk the shop person down to $100.00 or less and you can bring a print out of ebay to make your case.  Haggle, haggle, haggle,  and you just might come out a winner. I would probably be willing if it were in the $60-80 range.  Any higher, and I could probably find an e for the same price.

I know of a Walmart that has this same reel new in box right now. They have a big red tag on it for $200 which is ridiculous after all this time. That's why it's still sitting there. They have several old D models, one of which I think is a Citica.

I own 2 of them, Gd tough reels, with strong drags, use mine for heavy fishing. agree price is a little high, try to talk him down a little.  If U purchase it I don't think you'll regret it.  Just my opinion.  I love mine.

I think that the Curado D is a great crank bait reel.  It seems to me that is around what I paid new.  I'd haggle a little, but in the end, I think it is a good reel.  I'd go ahead and get it.

The D series reels were a major step up in refinement when they came out over the previous Curado and Citica B series.  The only downside is they are heavy at over 9oz.  But they are built like a tank and last forever.  I currently use 3 of them and have no complaints.  With that said the most I'd pay for one even in a pawn shop would be $100-110.  You can get a new Citica G for that price on ebay though which is a better reel than that Curado D.

A Citica G IS IN NO WAY a better reel than a Curado DHSV, period.

I have one DHSV and love it, I wish I'd have purchased four or five when they had them on sale right before the E series came out. In my opinion they're the best series of Curado's so far. I'd pay the $150 if I were you but it wouldn't hurt to try and get it cheaper.

Im gonna go haggle the price with them next friday. He told me that the reel has been sitting in there for the better part of five years now. So im not too concerned with it leaving anytime soon. Thanks for the advice guys.

D series are my favorite Shimano's. Tanks, and cast as good as anything.  I have a Curado 201 DPV, and it was like new when I bought it used....here I think and paid $100 for it.
