kylek Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I just picked up a new Veritas Winch rod in 7' M power to use for cranking this year. I am pretty sure it has the moderate action. This is my first "crankbait" rod. What else can i use this rod for? I have it paired up with a Lew's Speed Spool in 5.4:1 Thanks Kyle Quote
mnbassman23 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Sometimes when i'm in a pinch I've used my crankbait rod (7MHM) for 1/4-3/8oz spinnerbaits and swim jigs and never had any issues. As long as your not using a heavy wire hook that rod should work for these 2 lures. Maybe not ideal, but IMO it will work. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 15, 2013 Super User Posted February 15, 2013 Topwater and maybe jerkbaits if you like the rod's action. I use a heavy cranking rod for my Alabama Rig, too. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 15, 2013 Super User Posted February 15, 2013 I use my 7'10" H power mod. action St Croix LTB "magnum cranker" for treble hooked, hard swimbaits that are within the rods specs (5/8 - 1 3/8's oz). Like the SK King Shad, 4" Spro BBZ-1, Jackall Giron, etc..... Quote
rangerjockey Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I have a dobyns 704cb that makes a great jerkbait rod and a good topwater rod as long as the baits are within it's range . great for pop r's , Giant dog x ect.. Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 15, 2013 Super User Posted February 15, 2013 The Veritas would probably do well with topwaters, jerks, and smaller swim jigs. Quote
