Snakehead Whisperer Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 yes and no so be careful. Yes, everybody and anybody that comes on the boat is allowed to fish. No because each person who is on the boat fishing also needs to have a saltwater registration (free on the Maryland DNR website). They do this because of how many stripers come up onto the flats to spawn As long as each person on the boat has that saltwater registration you are good to go. Ah, thanks for clarifying. I do the saltwater registration yearly anyway, and I hold a Chesapeake license. Quote

Super User islandbass Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 Too much. Any other state mandate you provide your social security number to get your license ? You got that right, my fellow Washingtonian, and I don't think our WDFW does much if anything to support bass and other "warm water" fish as they call them in our neck of the woods. Being an odd year, I need to shell out for the salt water license too for a total of about $55.00 give or take. It would be interested to see if there is a corollary or relationship between a state's fishing license fee and its political leaning to the left or right. Quote

tbone1993 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 IL started when they started with electronic printers. Wisconsin was the first state to require ss#'s, and they've been doing it for at least 20 years, maybe longer. I was told way back when, the reasoning behind it was for tracking deadbeat dads. I just paid $15 for IL resident. WI licenses are not avilable yet, but my non resident runs around $60 with a Great Lakes salmon stamp Exactly the reason. Worst system ever. In the middle of a transaction an error pops up with a number to call. Its the number to pay child support, we have to explain to the customer that there is an error and they have to call X number. So here I am at a tackle shop selling a license to a dead beat dad that is 6ft 5 300lbs. I am not small at all but this guy makes me look like a twig. How do i know that hes not going to snap on me. Snakehead Whisperer Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Too much. Any other state mandate you provide your social security number to get your license ? Maryland started this year. They also ask for a physical description (height, weight, hair color, etc.)Yep Illinois does. $15 for a license AND 6.50 more for a salmon stamp. Though I like having the social security as a requirement. You would not believe how many illegal immigrants come in to buy fishing licenses. At least they were buying licenses so the money can go back into the fishery. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 15, 2013 Global Moderator Posted February 15, 2013 The charges for more than one rod....is that for more than one rod fishing at a time or more than one on the boat? If you have 5 rods on your boat but only fish one at a time, do you still need it? Just curious. In Kansas it's so you can use 3 rods at a time. I spend quite a bit time fishing for big catfish on the river during the summer so the more rods I can have out the better my odds. 1 Quote

Traveler2586 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I now qualify for a Resident senior Consolidate License MD DNR - "Resident Senior Consolidated License (available to MD residents only) allows a Maryland resident who is 65 years of age or older, or will become 65 years of age in the current calendar year, to fish in the fresh waters of Maryland (including trout) and in Maryland's tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, Atlantic coast and coastal bays from January 1 through December 31." Resident $5.00 $5.00 Quote

I used to guide up there, how anyone can call fishing for them in the tribs enjoyable is beyond me. The fight is great, the crowds are terrible. Quote

WI licenses are not avilable yet, but my non resident runs around $60 with a Great Lakes salmon stamp Don't know why, but I first read it, I thought you typed "for tracking us deadbeat dads". In Mass the only fee involved when you reach 70 is a "convenience fee" of a dollar fifty. A sporting (hunting and fishing) costs nothing. Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 NYS is $30 for the year. NYS DEC actually just changed it this year so that the license lasts a whole calendar year instead of just the "season" which is good. Quote
daiwaguy Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I hate all the permits I buy each year. Lots of lakes and counties require extra permits on top of the state permit. Hunt/fish combo-38.50 3 pole permit-6.50 trout-12 state park vehicle permit 20.50 3 year boat sticker for both my boats-32.50 each and then the lake permits start adding on Wyandotte Co non-resident fish/boat/trout-77 Johnson Co resident boat/fish-27 Plus I buy my year Non-resident for Missouri-40 with trout-7.50 Arkansas 7 day nonresident permit with trout for the White River-29 Oklahoma 6 day nonresident permit-38.50 That is love my friend. Mine is 12 I dont do a trout stamp. I also have no idea what my boat was and cannot remember if I did 5 years or 3 years. Quote
