Bassaddiction Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Is this rod a good for hair jigging? Its the St Croix Avid 7ft ML Fast: AVS70MLF Quote
Bassaddiction Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 1/8th, 1/4, once in a blue moon a 1/16th but I doubt it.......... Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 24, 2013 Super User Posted January 24, 2013 Then id say yeah. I would probablyy go with a medium. But ML should do it too. I dont own a st. Croix, but they make dang good rods. Maybe one of the st croix guys here can give a bit better insight which rod theyd prefer based on using them. But on paper ml or m both sound good. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted January 24, 2013 Super User Posted January 24, 2013 the ML would be perfect for the jig sizes your are throwing. i throw 3/32-5/16 jig plastics/hair jigs on a 69mlxf xtreme and it handles them perfectly. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2013 Super User Posted January 24, 2013 Yes, and the 7' length will really help you sling them. Any lighter, and look for an 8' light power rod, with a bit slower taper. Quote
mnbassman23 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Yes that would be a great choice. I have the 68mxf Avid that i use for 1/4-3/8oz jigs and its perfect. The ML should work great for the weights you listed. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 25, 2013 Super User Posted January 25, 2013 I have that exact rod, and while 90% of the time it's my dedicated drop shot rod, I will use it to fish small 1/8 and 1/16th oz jigs and it works great for that. Quote
