Super User roadwarrior Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 Dateline: Memphis, TN With nearly an inch of snow and howling 10mph winds, the city is nearly shutdown. Schools are out for the holidays, but "non-essential" personel are urged to stay off the streets. More snow is on the way! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 We were told we were getting 3-6" of snow last night/today. So far we have about 1/4". LOL Good luck and be safe all. Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 With a strong 10 MPH wind watch out for snow drifts!!!! Happy New Year! Quote
Super User Root beer Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 Sounds like a severe case of global warming. Global warming simply means the average temperatures are rising. Hotter temperature evaporate more moisture in the air which in turn creates more snow on the ground during colder season. Anyway, I never truly understood the widespread panic. Every. Single. Year. You would think with experience people would learn how to deal with it better instead of panicking. Quote
nick76 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I gotta admit, this kind of made my day. My father-in-law owns a time share that my wife and I often use. Last year we left Christmas night and spent 5 days in Nashville, TN. After seeing us have a great time, my FIL insisted that we all go again this year. He was on my wife for two weeks to get the reservations made and was relentless. A week after making the reservation he decided that him and his girlfriend were just gonna go alone and basically told us we were not welcome. Two weeks ago it slipped that some of her family were the going with them. They were looking forward to warm weather and no snow! It is the little things to be thankful for. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Up here we are looking at 10 to 14" of snow later in the week! Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 RW I hope you have a good supply of essential items stored up. With those conditions you could be immobilized for a long time! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 The weather man forecasted 4-8" of snow for us. We got nothing, and desperately need the moisture. Quote
plumworm Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 " With nearly an inch of snow and a howling 10mph wind, the city is shut down" Last week we had 10" of snow and 30-50 mph wind and although they closed schools, we just went about our business as usual. You guys are a bunch of whimps. LOL. Quote

You guys are a bunch of whimps. LOL. Well, you will find this entertaining, too: Last year schools were closed on at least two different occasions when "frozen percipitation" was FORCAST! We didn't get the snow either time. Local news rarely uses the "s" word. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 They said that we were going to get up to 2". I don't think that we're going to get even a dusting. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 Last week we got two feet in one night - and they didn't even think about closing the schools. If they did those kids would be going to school year round . . . A-Jay Quote
