Siebert Outdoors Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Has anyone used one of these rods in the casting or spinning series? Preferably 7-7'6" areal. I'm looking at purchasing one but it is hard to find one of these rods locally to where I can actually see it. How do you like the rod. Especially that handle. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 9, 2012 Super User Posted October 9, 2012 I used my buddy's LXC711HMF. It was tad tip heavy with a heavy Zillion on it. I liked it better with Citica E or TD-X103HSDL flipping reel. Perfectly suited to sling-shotting fish out of heavy cover with a "lift and separate" hook set. The length was a little overwhelming at first. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted October 9, 2012 Super User Posted October 9, 2012 I've used quite a few of their rods in both spinning and casting. The "older" (last years model) were a bit tip heavy. Not as bad as some of the legend tournaments but still just a little. I was able to play with the new Xtremes (the one with the new black grip) in cabelas last weekend in 7mf spinning and 7'MHF casting and both of the rods balance A LOT better than the older ones. I was a bit apprehensive about the new style at first but I think these rods were definitely built with a less tip heavy feel. The grip was very comfortable as well. Felt nothing like the rage series. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Thanks, Have either of you fished it side by side with a GLX? Hows it compare in your opinion? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 9, 2012 Super User Posted October 9, 2012 Not side by side, but anything "north" of an IMX or Avid has proven to be more sensitive than I'd ever need. I have "soft" hands though, and may feel more than others. Quote

DaveT63 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I have last years 7'MF Xtreme casting rod, and an MBR842 GLX. Both are awesome rods. I honestly don't know that I could choose if I could keep only one. You can't go wrong with either the Xtreme or the GLX. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Believe it or not I found a MH 7'1" (i believe) on the length last night. It was a nice rod. Very nice rod. The handle grip doesnt fit me well. I'll have to revisit it with a reel. Quote
