Ricardo Glz Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 ok, this is my idea and need your help.. i want to buy a GPS, with altimeter, but i want to buy the Handheld with more precision... i need the altimeter to check water lever.. do you guys can recomend me one handheld ?? do you know the range of precision in altimeter ?? i was thinking in the GARMIN GPSMAP 62sc $500.00 dlls..... i dont know is there is in the market somenthing better of this... thankk you for your time, and sorry about my english Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 8, 2012 Super User Posted October 8, 2012 Check the specs for the Lowrance Endura Safari. I don't know its accuracy though. It has barametric and GPS altitude data but they don't match. I would guess that you would need the actual barametric pressure to calibrate the real altitude. I don't have a use for that function , so I haven't attempted to check the accuracy. Inside my house it shows 512' for GPS altitude and 676' for barametric altitude. Quote

I've read mized reviews on iPhone GPS accuracy, but it uses radio tower triangulation as well as GPS systems so it has additional data that standalone GPS doesn't have. I think it cost $5. Quote
