Alotta of my fishin is done in the dark due to work and family time. Got a chance the other night to toss some baits in wash pond one of my personal faves as well as one of my childhood waters. Not a bad night a couple smaller guys about a lb and a half which theres an abundance of a monster pickerel and lastly the lunker of the evening a 2.7lber in the pitch black. Love those hard hitters in the dark of the night. My most productive pattern in the dark is a 1/2oz ftball jig w a havoc twin tail grub in brown or grn pmkn thrown to shallow stone banks or stone retaining walls nd hopped and bounced into the rocks. Always a killer for me. Who else has a knockout pattern for bassin in pitch black we could benefit from?

I love throwing the big 4 1/2 inch black jitterbug in the complete darkness and quiet... the hit is priceless. The noise the jitterbug itself makes especially in the quite quiet times when its all you can hear... sometimes they want a smaller one and i will throw those if i get nothing on the bigger one.....mix it up fast retreive , slow retrieve and start stop till i find what they want.

By far my most successful night fishing lure has been a black spinnerbait with dual colorado blades and a trailer hook. The 1/2 ounce Strike King ones from Dick's Sporting Goods have worked best for me.

Yeah, fishing in the dark adds another angle to the game that is very exciting, and I love it. My overall most productive thing to toss, is either a black n blue jig/ Lobster, or a Tx rigged Anaconda. Color doesn't seem to really matter, but with the worm, I usually stick to Red Shad or Red Bug at night. Really stained water brings out the big 10" Thumper in Black Neon. If the occation calls for it, the funnest way for me to catch 'em, is on the Shad, though. Nothing beats a night time topwater bite!

Has anyone tried the 7.5 inch triple treble jitterbug or the black booyah spinnerbaits w the huge nickle colorado blade? I haven't landed anything on ether yet but the vibration the booyah puts out is in matched. I know the glory of the medium jitterbug. Bloop bloop bloop SMASH!

Nev, the record is 10-8, and no, that's not too big, even for a 5 pounder to eat. Probably won't catch a ton of dinks on it, either, but, no I haven't used one. The only topwaters I use, are Rage Shads and Toads.
