R520dvx Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 The Trilene TransOptic? Sounds good for old eyes. Just wondering how it performs on baitcast gear. Quote
Skinnyh2ofishin Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I tried it last year because I got a free spool of 15lb in an issue of FLW magazine I bought. It really does become bright orange when exposed to light, but won't be clear underwater unless you're working your bait EXTREMELY slow. But it would definitely be visible for you. I felt it performed about the same as Big Game, which is my usual 15lb mono choice, so if you like Big Game, you should be satisfied with TransOptic. In case you haven't used Big Game, I'll just say I didn't think it performed any differently, good or bad, than most other 15lb lines I've used. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 16, 2010 Super User Posted February 16, 2010 Haven't tried this new one yet, but I have had some great results with Vanish Transition Fluorocarbon. A bright yellow in the light, which quickly disappears underwater. Been using it on two of my spinning rigs for 2 seasons now. One thing though....they make it in yellow AND red. I tried the red late last fall and dumped it. Can't see the darn stuff. Stick with the high-vis yellow. Quote
TommyBass Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Havn't tried it... but if its anything like the Vanish Transition I would dig a hole, throw it in, set it on fire, bury it, then move far far away. I had tons of trouble with transition becoming very brittle. Also, as Skinny stated, it wouldn't clear up fast enough to matter. You might as well just use brightly colored line. Give it a shot though, maybe it will surprise us. Quote
Super User Marty Posted February 17, 2010 Super User Posted February 17, 2010 Has Anyone Tried ... Sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh, but I dislike these "teaser" subject lines. I'd appreciate it if subject lines actually include the subject so people can decide for themselves whether to open it. Descriptive subject lines are also part of standard "netiquette." Thank you. RyneB Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I personally have not used it, but i have a friend who used it and hated it. Quote
