What lures do you want to try this year?

I really want to try the new Swimmin' Flukes and Jelly Worms. I also want to try some Paca Chunks.

Well, not much new stuff, but I do have a couple swimbaits I'll probably at least get wet this year, but other than that, I'm sticking to the winning formula I got on in '09 (Rage Tails and jigs!).

Carolina rig and Texas rig fishing for starters.  After that, ?

I got a couple swimbaits, going to toss them and see how it goes. Other than that, getting the RT Eel, the thumper worm and the Smokin Rooster. That will be my starting line up for the year.

The last new lure I bought was a SK Redeye Shad in sexy shad color and that was a couple of years ago.  It's become one of my favorite baits.  This year I may break down and get a pack of soft swimbaits and I'm considering trying one of the new Storm Kickin' Sticks.  Outside of that....nada.

There is definitely some stuff I am forcing myself to learn. Actually I like this post b/c this is all I think about all off season!

I want to work on:

1. dropshotting

2. crankbaits

3. C-rig

I have used cranks and the c-rig on/off but I want to focus on them and make them strong weapons b/c they are perfect for my lake.

And obviously I want to polish up stuff I've been working on:

1. Swimbaits

2. well just about everything I can always improve!

I might lay off the texas rig in deeper water and just keep it for flippin/pitchin so I can try these new things.

Finesse Fishing - I usally have a 3 hour window to fish between work and family so it's hard for me to slow down when the bite starts getting tough. (A cabin fever purchase JM Spinning reel/7' Carbonlite is a good place to start).

Big IKA rigged the way they show it in the  video on the GYCB website and other GYCB products.  Also some rage tail stuff JJ's Magic.

Jigs. I bought a bunch of them last year but circumstances beyond my control limited my fishing SEVERELY last year so when I did go I just used what I was comfortable with instead of trying to learn anything new. The jigs just laid in the box dry for most of the year. I've actually been trying to learn to pitch and flip at home in the back yard so I will be more ready for this when the time comes this year.

Next will be the shakey head. I have not given this lure a chance yet cause I felt I did not have the right gear to fish it properly. Now that's changing so I will give them some attention.

I'm not much on swimbaits but some of the smaller ones look interesting. I got a couple of the magic swimmers in the smallest size I'll give a shot. Those big ones don't do anything for me though. If it weighs more than an ounce I don't have much use for it. I don't even own a rod that will handle more than that.  And any of those soft plastic ones with the big flubbery tails don't appeal to me at all.

these lures simply because everyone else does!

However, mastering a few techniques might

change my attitude. So, that's my goal for

2010.

I am going to try to fish some Spinnerbaits this season.I don't tie them on much,guess I'm to busy with soft plastic's/topwater.

Ive done really well in the past with a Dropshot,but I was using really small baits,so I was catching Bluegill as well as Dink bass.I think im gonna try to "up" the size of bait I use on my Dropshot,hoping that will get me some better fish.

I may also try some Beaver baits,as everyone says theyre really good.May try some Shakey head presentations as well.

For now im gonna make an effort to throw some Lizards and get some bedding fish.I havent fished during the spawn since the mid 90's

I'm going to give swim jigs a shot this season. Especially the "Wisconsin" style.

I see some folks just getting into drop shotting. You won't regret that move, I guarantee!

I'm intriqued by the Strike King Smokin' Rooster, bought a couple of bags to try this spring. Also, looking forward to trying some new cranks such as the Spro Little John Deep Diver, Strike King Series 6XD. I also picked up 1 Black Dog Mini Shellcracker that I'm looking forward to showing the fish in my area. Lucky Craft came out with a couple of new baits that are going to be on the end of line this spring the 3 Joint Pointer 125 swim/jerkbait hybrid and the Silent Pointer 95. I also have some custom painted cranks and some new colors of my old standby LuckyCraft RC baits that will surely get fished.

I also picked up 2 new spinning rods a Loomis SHR 822S/ GLX Shakeyhead rod along with a Dobyn's DX 742 SF Chamion Extreme 7'4" ML for finnesse fishing.

I just have to wait app 6 weeks for the ice to go away :-/

Good question - real answer is I don't know.  I am going to try to get better in my locating skills, I'd rather spend more time fishing rather than searching.  I'm going to try to keep gear better organized, so I don't spend as much time sorting through stuff.

I'm going to try to get beyond local this year, maybe a once a month trip to a larger reservoir - Truman or Stockton or Pomme de Terre.
