I didn'nt want to hack anyones thread so here we go....

I generally buy plastics in the color i want. Therefore not needing to dye them. But i could use them for the scent so my questions would be:

1-Is the advantage of JJ"s the dying or the scent or both?

2-If i have a dark colored bait ( like a 297 senko ) and i used the chartreuse color dye will my bait actually change to chart oe does the dye only work on lighter colored pastics like white?

3-Will this stuff dye everything it touches? (boat, carpets, hands,)

4-What do i do with the baits i dye/scent after i'm done fishing. If they smell so bad people dont want them in their house what do i do with them?

5-Once a bait is dyed/scented and it has dried does it rub off. I pitch/flip alot and i gotta have these baits in my hand. I dont want to stink for ever

6- I'm currently using megastrike. If you are too are there any situations where jj's works better? Because megastrike is some good stuff, easy to handle, user friendly and without any of the crazy side effects ( bottle fizing, smell, leaving out of sun) of jj's magic

Thanks for your answers...

2 years ago i hated this stuff, gave this stuff another chance last year and i had some extremely good luck.Ended up buying the 3 bottle pack for next fishing season.

#1...both,scent and you can dye your baits. For me it's more scent than anything.Remember they do make clear if you don't want to color your baits.

#2. It works better on lighter colored baits...however you still will get the light chart color when you dip it...just very slightly though.

#3...yes,yes,yes...becareful with this stuff. After it dries and goes into the water once,it's fine after that.

#4.I throw mine back into a plano box I put aside for used plastic.Putting them in a baggie would work too. That will keep the smell from leaking out.

#5.No....least not from my experience. When i dip my bait I wait 30 seconds then get it wet a little by dipping it into the water.Pretty much can touch the bait without painting your hands from this point. ;D

#6.Honestly JJ's is stronger and lasts longer....and needs to be applied less than stuff like megastrike. That's the up side of JJ's. The crazy side effect of JJ's you listed is just that....the negative of JJ's.You either deal with it or just stay away from JJ's altogether if you don't think it's worth it.

Honestly,if i were you i would give it a try....only you will make up your mind rather it's worth having in your tackle box or not.

Why don't they make a clear for people who just want the scent and no dye? Just wondering. :-?

Um, they do...

That's all I use is clear. I don't feel like it's any better or worse than megastrike though. Both do the same thing I feel like. One sometimes might out produce the other and vise versa just depends on what the fish are wanting that day I guess.

JJ's is awesome stuff and lasts a long time...well worth the few downsides mentioned above. If you are a believer in garlic scent, JJ's is the only way to go.

ZipLoc bags will keep the scent contained on baits in storage and washing with Listerine will kill any scent on your hands.

Good tip on the Listerine! I will have to try that!  This is what I would do= Buy the jj's clear and a tube of Megastrike and you will be set for along time!!!!!
