What are your favorite casting spoons and jigging spoons.  I'm looking to start spoon fishing more this year.

Few tips would be nice too.

Good one Kent. ;D

I opened this topic thinking it was going to be about cuddling with your woman (or man).

I still use the old trusty Silver Minnow at times.

Hopkins Shorty is about all I use anymore but there's another one that's catching on fast called the Flitterbait by Smack Tackle.

Obviously, it's real important to locate the fish first, especially if you're talking about vertical jigging. You dont want to use a vertical spoon as a search bait. ;D For starters, just find some big groups of shad. This time of year the bass will be close to the shad, bet on it. Just drop your spoon into the mess you see on your graph and try to get it in the zone. Repeat the upward strokes whenever you feel your line get tight and your spoon has run out of line. You want to try to keep it in the zone or just above it....never too far below the action. With a good enough graph you can see your spoon on the initial drop, then when you lift and it falls again.

You'll be surprised how many bass can be caught on a hammered out piece of metal. Once you catch a few, you wont put the spoon down until springtime. Be sure to get it back out once summer hits and the fish get deep again.

And check out that Flitterbait....it's a good one. ;)

Strike King Sexy Spoon

This looks like a winner. I plan on trying them this season for sure. Had some limited success with Hopkins last season, but wasn't impressed with the fluttering on the fall. The Strike King looks like it might do a better job.
