Helluva_Engineer Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Went out yesterday, took a while to find a good edge. Around 1100 all we had in the boat were 2 small blackfin tunas and an 0/1 on sailfish. Had only seen scattered weed all day and gotten 1 small bull in it, but finally found a weedline and trolled down the inside edge with nothing to show. We decided to cross through to the outside edge and as we do...FISH ON!!! By 1300 we had our limit of dolphin. Mostly schoolies, but we succeeded in our goal of filling the freezer for the year. Spent the rest of the day looking for another sailfish, but couldn't find any. Now we get to search for a big bull through June. Enjoy the pictures. Quote

How deep were the dorado? 300-350' about 6-7 miles off of SLI. Got shallower the further south we followed the weed line. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted May 19, 2012 Super User Posted May 19, 2012 Good stuff. I'm hoping to get the boat out next week and do some trolling. I haven't heard any great reports yet this year on Dolphin. Glad to see somebody is catching them. My deep freezer is just about empty, it's definitely time to go out and fill it back up. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 20, 2012 Super User Posted May 20, 2012 I wish someone would catch me a small king so I could make some smoked fish dip. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 20, 2012 Super User Posted May 20, 2012 My partner was killing the kings this week, I was at home under the weather and couldn't go. One day he got cut off so much he ran out of hooks. BTW, yesterday was warm , humid with a dead wind, against my better judgement I wore a long sleeve Columbia fishing shirt, synthetic material. I don't think I ever suffered so much with the being overheated, those shirts don't breathe. I'll take 100% cotton anytime. Quote
