you guys that have tryed them do they work as advertised or what is your opinion. was looking at the 3.5 flatgreen firetiger

There should be quite a bit if you searched this forum but I'll sum it up for you. Some people will say it has an effect in dirtier water some say it's a gimmick. I personally don't think it helps any as I've used it in both clear and stained with no bites. But without the laser it is a pretty nice quality crank.

Don't waste your money is what I think.

If you make a lure light up, flash, shoot a laser the effect of this bait drawing more strikes is slim. You take the same lure and night fish with it you might find a difference. I had to field test a spinnerbait one time that the head would light up. After throwing the bait a few times I was not impressed so I figured I would fish it again that night. The bait looked like I was throwing a glow stick as it sailed across the dark sky. I got strikes but wasn't hooking fish. I bent the hook down to open up the gap figuring the hook was to small. Still was getting strikes but no fish. I stuck a trailer hook on it and made another cast. When I brought the bait back it was missing the blade. What was going on was the head lit up the blade and the fish where striking at the blade instead of the bait. I put a new blade on the bait and took a sharpie and colored the top of the head so the light didn't reflect off of the blades and colored the blades. I finally started catching fish on it. When I handed the lure back to the company who made it the guy couldn't believe how much I had to alter the bait to catch fish. If you look at its website the company refers to the fact that when he took a laser pointer and shined it into a fish tank the fish went nuts. Fish are curious and view that red dot as food. The fish think it is a bug or something along those lines. If the dot moves the fish thinks it is alive. If they built the lure so that it appeared as if the crankbait is chasing the dot they might be on to something but I doubt the bass will see the whole picture. Remember the fish was chasing the dot in the tank when the inventor had this brain storm not the pointer itself. When you point it so that the lip lights up what would be the difference in the day time of a red bill crankbait. The bait by itself will probably catch fish without the need for the light.

Tried the Laser Lure and here are the results:

*  Light worked intermittently - did not flash all the time.

*  Light on second one never did work.

*  Storing them can be tricky as you do not want hooks to touch each other while in tackle box.

*  Did not get a strike.

Pretty lure and I am sure I will give 'em another whack next year. :D

Interesting concept though! I brought a penlight laser pointer to BPS a few weeks back. I tried to get a reaction out of the fish in their tanks. It actually did get them excited! Sort of like how my cat reacts to it.

I just don't see how you can achieve the same results with a fishing lure, if the light is contained in the lure itself. The fish - and my cats - are attracted to the spot where the light is directed....not toward my hand that is holding the light! So, I'm not convinced that a lure possessing a light would even come close to having a similar effect to a directed laser beam. Guess I'm just skeptical!

I bought some from -nick- awhile back and i'm not all that impressed by the "laser" but the "lure" is good.  The shallow divers have a nice wide wobble and look great.  One thing that I think you are overlooking is that it's not a "laser" but rather a red LED.  Unless it's really close to something, you're not gonna get a reflection or a spot like a laser pointer.  The bait actually acts as the spot and not the source of the laser as it lights up the front of the bait and part of the bill.  You won't get a spot reflection because the light is not focused like a traditional "laser", but rather a blinking LED.

I will also say a guy I went to high school with did some underwater filming in 2001 for a lure he called laser lure and raved about how well it worked. I don't know if it is the same company or same lure. Brent wasn't much of a bass fishermen but at the time he thought it was a good thing based on what it caught while filming.
