babblingcarp Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 I have heard that Yamamoto's are pretty good. Also, what size is best for jig trailers? Is three inches too small? Quote
babblingcarp Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Chompers,Zoom. I've also been looking at both of those. Which zoom product are you referring to? Is the creepy crawler, or the double tailed fat albert? Quote
Super User grimlin Posted May 9, 2012 Super User Posted May 9, 2012 I have absolutely no luck on double tail grubs.....I have no Idea why either. Single tail grubs are another story and are my favorite baits right now....Go figure.... Quote
msolorio Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 yamamotos are imo the best. 99% of the time my jig trailer is a yamamoto double tail and always seems to produce. id say stick with 5 and 4 inch double tails, 2 perfect sizes. i cant find the 3 inchers anywhere in my area. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 9, 2012 Super User Posted May 9, 2012 I prefer the creepy crawler by zoom for a jig trailer, but when fishing a plain jighead I like the yamamotos best. Chompers and many others make great double grubs though too. Quote
Quillback Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 I've had good luck with the Zoom Fat Albert as a trailer. I haven't tried the Creepy Crawler, so thanks for the heads up Iceintheveins. Quote

But on a football head, as a trailer for a skirted bait.....double tails are awesome. Quote

Is the creepy crawler, or the double tailed fat albert? Yes the creepy crawler, I put them on small lead head jigs and as a trailer for other small jigs with skirts. But I like the Chompers alot ! When you open a bag of Chompers you will know it,'the garlic smell makes me hungry! The Chompers twin tail has a little skirt on the head and my go to colors are=watermelon/green pumpkin, dark melon pepper,watermelon/red purple flake.I had my first 6 lb. smallmouth on a Chompers! Okay, I am going to try both and see which one I like better. I basically had them narrowed down to those two choices. The creepy crawlers cost less per pack as well as have more in a pack, however I am looking forward to test the chompers' scent. Quote
