llPa1nll Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Granted it's his fish and his choice. Having said that I feel this was extremely selfish of him to have kept the fish. That is a fish you want to keep spawning for as long as possible. If he is so dedicated as a fisherman as he says, it should have been released back into the water. Take all the pictures, weight it on as many scales as you want, but get a replica mount and release the fish, to spawn again. Just my opinion, the fish in my avatar went 7lbs 11oz, went right back into the pond after the picture. He caught it, and its his choice in the end. 3 Quote
bobh64 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 He has caught many smaller trophy size fish (8 to 9 pound size) and released them all but this fish being a potential state record he had to harvest it blame the NH laws that states all fish must be dead when they leave waters. Don'the attack a person's character because he didn't ask your permission. This is all I will comment on this post. 2 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 That's crazy! Must of been caught right in my backyard... Shane and I are going for BIG smallies sunday, hopefully we can show you guys and trophy smallmouth! 4 Quote
bass anytime Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Fished Balch today, a very tough bite. Tried many technics to no avail. Two fish caught, 1 three pound largemouth and a smaller smallmouth. Surface temp 59-60, and the water level has not yet been lowered. Quote
bobh64 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 A 3 pounder on a tough day still is something to smile about. No fishing for me this weekend I have a new (used) truck and can't wait to hook the boat onto it and run someplace. Quote
bass anytime Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 I do agree with the smile, it sure did look better in the water at first. Good luck with the new truck. Quote
mebisho Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Caught a lot of fish today but none were bass. I had s rest time though. Yellow perch were slamming the cranks Quote
salmotrutta Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Fished Pleasant Lake in Deerfield today. What a tough day.It just confirms what i already know.I suck at smallie fishing.Water was 59 deg.On a good note ,on the way back to the launch i decided to troll over to one of my smallie spots during the hardwater period.A deep grass bed in 25+ feet of water.Sure enough my fish finder lit up like a christmas tree.Schools of fish everywhere with some baitfish pods.I'm starting to think that Pleasant smallies never come shallow except to spawn.Think i might take a day off this week and pound the heck out of that grass flat. 2 Quote
mebisho Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Not a bad morning, I got 4 lmb between 2-4 lbs, all were sitting on drop offs. 3 were caught on a Dance'n Craw. I kid you not. I like showing them stuff they have never seen before. I know I have some Dance!n eels somewhere. Lol 1 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Got my PB yesterday while fishing with Shane, didn't end up going on our smallie excursion. It was caught on the Outkast RTX jig with a caffeine shad as a trailer... 6-10 8 Quote
newhampshirebass Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Fished railroad pond yesterday, caught a 1.5 in a few hours of fishing. The place really stinks all the time, isnt worth it for bass 1 Quote
nhbassin Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Got my PB yesterday while fishing with Shane, didn't end up going on our smallie excursion. It was caught on the Outkast RTX jig with a caffeine shad as a trailer... 6-10 Congrats on the PB, Jitterbugger! That is one big girl. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 15, 2014 Super User Posted October 15, 2014 Got my PB yesterday while fishing with Shane, didn't end up going on our smallie excursion. It was caught on the Outkast RTX jig with a caffeine shad as a trailer... 6-10 Congrats again on that PB, man. You earned it. To everyone else... notice how the shoreline is waaaaay back there? Yeah. Couple other friends of mine on the same lake that day, both of em got skunked. They were fishing traditional grasslines and such. Adjust to the bite you are facing, find your fish. 3 Quote
mebisho Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Did anyone notice the 12+ pound smallmouth that the Mass Fish and Game found after shocking a cove in Quabbin? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 16, 2014 Super User Posted October 16, 2014 Didn't see that, but that place is known for big smallies. A 12 pounder? well, that's the stuff dreams are made of. Quote
mebisho Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 If you are on Facebook, look up Impact Fishing, the smallie is there Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I tried to find it, couldn't... If that's true that's CRAZYY Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I found something from 2012...?? http://www.stripersonline.com/t/840976/new-word-record-smallmouth-quabbin-reservoir Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 From that it says fisheries said it was actually 8# but I don't know... I was just searching around, it was posted in '12 anyway Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 17, 2014 Super User Posted October 17, 2014 Just did a little searching..shocked in 2012, fish and game said the fish is 8 lbs..saw a pic and it is a beauty but the 12 lbs is an internet rumor. 1 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 17, 2014 Super User Posted October 17, 2014 I stand corrected. Still a nice fish no need to be corrected..the internet is a sneaky place, add fish tales in and I believe nothing I read. The pic was sweet tho..too bad it wasnt caught but shocked. 2 Quote
mebisho Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Fished Naticook this morning. I scaled down the gear to light tackle, lures and 6# test line. I caught a lot of bass, crappies, perch, and pickerel. Nothing was huge but on the light tackle, it sure was fun. I did see a few bigger bass and pickerel following the lures but none took Quote
bobh64 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Hitting Great East today, time to hit the bigger body water with the boat since the smaller ones are being drawn down making them unsafe to run through. Quote
salmotrutta Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Gave Rollins pond a workout this morning. The wind was brutal.Zero boat control.Got frustrated after 2 hrs. and called it a day.Caught about a dozen or so.Couple on tubes but most came on a Rat-L-Trap in 9 ft. of water. All rats.Surprised at the clarity of the water. For some reason i thought it was stained water.
