unhbass37 Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 Hey guys, I know it was talked about on this post back in 2010, but has anyone had any luck at Robinson Pond in Hudson? How is the water quality? Whats the bottom made of? Have you caught smallmouth there too? I am going to view a property on the lake tomorrow and want to get at much info about the waterbody as I can. Any info helps. Thanks. I fish there alot . Biggest I've caught out of there was a 3 pounder LMB and my little guy caught a few 2 pounders. There is a really deep section on the bend with rocks, but I've never caught any smallmouth. Bottom is mostly made up of milfoil despite there attempt to try and clean it up. We always catch bass there though, but mostly under a pound. That place gets a ton of pressure because of its location. There are tourneys there often in the spring summer as well as well as dodging the jet skiers and water skiers. Honestly the best time to fish it is during the week in the AM or late night. I work nights so I take my son out there during the week when everyone is working. It's just a close place to hit for us for a few hours. If there is anything else I can help you with just ask. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 The biggest i have caught there was a tad under 3 1/2 , My son caught one a tad over 4. A white colored Rage tail craw for him. Mine was a darker green with sparkles. We have not spent a lot of time there , and i would agree the place gets a lot of boat use. Early morning is when we get to do most of our fishing. We have mainly stayed to the left side looking at the water from the launch. Follow it way back and then go left as well. Keep following it way back left into all the weeds and pads. This is where we have done most of our fishing, in the weeds and pads. I am sure you will find more. There was a 4 there so i am sure there is bigger. Just have to find her momma. Spring time with higher water. Quote
je1946 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Yeah, I'll bet Wildlife Taxidermy is thrilled to death, hopefully it won't hurt em too bad, they're still very handy to Massabesic. Unfortunetly it's the little places that take a beating when the big stores come in. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Guys i can't take it much longer!!! I have gotta get fishing soon, can anyone share some tips about catching bass in these colder spring months?... And when will the fishing really heat up again? Quote
nhbassin Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I stick to jigs and tubes for the first few weeks after ice out, then start using suspending jerkabits and lipless crankbaits once the water hits the mid-high 40's. Try looking for shallow flats that have a dark bottom and are protected from wind. The water will usually be a few degrees warmer up there and should draw in some fish. Quote
MikeOGNR Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Hey guys, Any of you guys know of any good producing lakes around me in Milford, NH I am just looking for some new good fishing spots around me that produce good sized bass any suggestions and places would be good. Also if you d tell me what you were using if you suggest a lake and maybe where is to fish on the lake that be helpful. Thanks -Mike Quote
nhbassin Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I went down to Turree Pond in Bow today and drilled a few holes to check out how much ice is left. Around 16 inches still. Its going to be a while before the lakes are open around here. Quote
MikeOGNR Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Do you go Ice Fishing a lot for bass??? I have never been but it seems interesting Quote
Nashua Nev Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 The rivers Nashua and Merrimack are wide open, Slow fishing but the fish are there. Jigs with craw trailers. slow slow slow. Is the Contoocook river wide open also. Quote
MikeOGNR Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 When you mean wide open are you talking about it being fish able right now??? like the water is iced out and fish able??? Quote
unhbass37 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 When you mean wide open are you talking about it being fish able right now??? like the r iWait ed out and fish able??? Personally river fishing is a waste of time when it's cold. Way to much water to try to catch fish. Only a few people on here are able to find them. Wait till the ice out on ponds. Just my to cents. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Yes wide open and no ice. Around the area where the Nashua meets the Merrimack has been the most fish so far for me. All smallmouth. I fished a little under the bridge in the kayak but no luck there. I am hoping to try up in the concord area where the rivers come together around exit 17 soon. possibly this wed. Fishing is fishing. Even if i catch nothing , in my opinion i have not wasted time. Quote
MikeOGNR Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Another question I have is when do you guys usually stop your bass fishing like month wise??? And do you try to fish another species or do another type of fishing just looknig to see cause I am looking to take up some ice fishing for bass come next winter aswell Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I think i fished for bass until mid november... Caught my PB last October in Amherst - 5lbs 11oz I have a pic in my gallery on my profile page... Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Here is the pic (top)... both of these were caught in october of 2012... 2 Quote
nhbassin Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I fish until mid-November as well. January-March I icefish for bass sometimes, but I feel there is a much higher chance that the fish die when you catch them ice fishing. I am planning on going out on the ice on Friday in the Concord area. I will post my results. 1 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 year round as long as i can get on the water. last year 2012 i caught a largemouth and a smallmouth every month of the year expect for december of 2012. In Jan and Fed in the canoe on the unfrozen Merrimack river i got smallmouth. The largemouth in Jan and Feb 2012 came from the dam at Stellos in the Nashua River. I did not get to fish very much in December because of work. This year I did not get out much in Jan and Feb. The fishing is slow, slow, slow , slow ,slow. Jigs with craw trailers , keels weighted ragetail craws , and small sized deep cranking bait that floats up when stopped cranking. With a big lip on the crankbait it dives to the bottom even slowly cranked, but i stop and let it float up and crank it slow again. the water i am fishing is rocky and the water is moving in the rivers. I have been fishing around the edges of the moving water. did i mention slow slow slow? This is what has been working for me with some success. All of the Nashua and Merrimack river main branches of water should be wide open. i dress warm , i expect to be a little cold, i bring hot coffee or tea, and i bring my fm radio to pass the time. 2 hours of relaxing time is worth the little bit of cold in my opinion. when the people look at me funny i just wave. 2 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I can't wait to get on the water, I'll be out there soon Nev!!! Quote
