unhbass37 Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 We searched the whole lake just about. I took my Bass tracker. Could of been just the day, but I never do well there anyway. Has anyone tried Haunted Lake in Francestown????? Quote
jaystraw Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Haunted Lake is a fun time. There is a good amount of Milfoil in it,and the launch is nothing to write home about, but it's still a good time. there are a good amount of LMB's in there. I've fished there by myself and with Wagn a few times and we have always caught at least a few fish. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Hit the Nashua river for an hour before work this morning. jaystraw Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 No problem. I've been really busy myself and I really only get to fish on the weekends. I don't think I've had the Nitro out since June. Quote
nmv Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. I have been reading here for awhile, but decided to join so I can share some of my experiences and perhaps get advice from those fishermen more adept than I. I am 26 from Deerfield, NH. I used to fish all the time when I was a kid and lived within bike riding distance of several good fishing holes, but have just got back into fishing seriously this year. I am currently car-topping a 17' aluminum canoe with a 30lb Minn Kota motor. I usually can only get out on Saturday mornings at this time. Because the canoe is too heavy to get on and off the car myself I only go out if I can get one of my two brothers to go with me. We have been fishing Turtletown pond almost exclusively lately due to its convenience. I caught my PB 3.5 lbs there earlier this year (First picture). I went to Turtletown this past Saturday with my youngest brother. We got out at 6:15am, the 2nd picture is of the first and biggest catch that day right off the bat using a Zara Spook. I got another 2 lber and a small one using 7" power worms within another 45 minutes. Things slowed down for awhile, but we saw schools of bluegills and crappies just bubbling up out of the water so we targeted them for awhile and hauled in 20+ with beetlespins and curlytail grubs I was using my ultralight rod at this point and unexpectedly hooked up with a 2.5 lb LMB using the smallest hook I had with a chart curlytail grub. He put up a good fun fight on my 2# test. We were done at 11:30am with my brother not able to get any bass, but did get some pickerel on topwaters. I went back from 6:30pm-8:30pm with my other brother, but no luck on the bass, but got some more crappies and bluegills. I have two questions. The schools of panfish we saw breaking the surface with their top half, is that normal behavior or are they trying to escape predator fish from below? Also, would the correct assumption be that where these schools are there are bass around, or that because these schools are active that there aren't any threats around and we should look elsewhere? Thank you, and I am excited to be part of the forum. Quote
PLombard68 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Hey nmv welcome to the forum. Those are some nice looking LMB. Congrats on the PB. As far as I know, what you're seeing is the Sunfish and Crappies going through a feeding frenzy. Quote
EddieC1981 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 nmv welcome to the forums. I fish turtletown a bit too and I"m also pretty new to the forums myself. If you're fishing in the concord area and want a fishing buddy let me know. I don't have a boat but I fish all around here. Turtletown I hear is good when you get out there. I only fish the shore and got a couple 2lbers from the pads on each side. But it's on my way home from work so let me know if you're around. I'll help ya haul that canoe around! lol Good luck and tight lines! I took a week off due to the extreme heat. I went to NHTI on Saturday morning with a couple 1.5-2lb fish. Lost a 3lber in some nasty downed trees. May go tonight, haven't decided yet. Quote

If I know in advance I'll have time to go fishing and I can't get my brothers to go I'll send you a PM. Actually, I have Thursday the 26th off if your around let me know. Welcome to the forums NMV. Follow this thread alot of good people sharing info. Nice fish BTW. Thank you, I have been following this thread and reading the forum in general alot this year. Most of the bass I have caught this year was due to tips I have read about here so it already has made me a better fisherman. Also, I went down the road to Freeses Pond in Deerfield last night between 7:30pm-8:30pm and did some shore fishing. I was using Zoom Horny Toads and fish would hit it and leave it. There were some guys in a canoe using a mouse with the same experience. I did end up hooking up with one using a powerworm near the culvert, but he cleared the water and threw the hook before I could get him in. If the weather hold out I am supposed to meet my sister-in-law and her boyfriend tonight to go shore fishing. We are bringing her cousins along and they don't want to fish so it's going to be somewhere with a ropeswing. Her boyfriend knows the place, but I'm assuming it's probably on the Merrimack. Any tips for what would work there tonight? Quote
EddieC1981 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Went to NHTI Pond and Horseshoe Pond (for the first time) last night. NHTI gave me a lot of action but nothing sizeable. Caught 4 and All were between 1lb-2lbs. Using senkos weedless. Then I experimented for the first time using the wacky rig and was not dissapointed. Was just jerking it in....let it drop but keeping the action going and I got 3 of the 4 that way. Then I hopped the bridge and went to horseshoe. I had never fished there before and MAN is there a lot of pads. Fishing a worm was not in the cards...weeds every time. So I switched to a ragetail frog. Got a couple of swipes but that's it. I'll give it a try again and hopefully get better results. I got there around 7:40 so I didn't have much time to work with. Quote

Let me know be nice to fish with someone. Tired of having all the fun by myself haha. Quote
EddieC1981 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Who is fishing Tuesday morning? Is is worth trying? May be fishing tonight. Have to go home and get a change of clothes...it wasn't fun sweating profusely yesterday but it was really just the humidity. I was catching fish at 5:45-7pm last night. Quote

I was gonna head out this morning, but quickly changed my mind. Now it's windy at 3:30 so it's looks like I may try tomorrow if the rain holds out. Quote

unhbass37 Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 Just sharing some information on Onway lake in Raymond. It will be CLOSED from July 23rd till August 31st to install a boat ramp. I have no clue why they are doing this either as it is perfect just droping it in the water from the waters edge. Quote
EddieC1981 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Went to old reliable at NHTI today. Got 2. One was 2lbs....still not seeing any size, they all seem the same between 1-2lbs. Worms are the only thing I'm getting action on there. Then god got angry and the wind, rain and lightning rolled in so it cut me off a little early. Quote

Anyways I can do early mornings on weekends. During the week I only fish at night because I don't do well getting up early on work days haha. Shoot me a message on here when you think you'll want to go. Really appreciate the offer too! Thanks! Quote
EddieC1981 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 So tonight, I went back to the pond that's got active fish. Proud to say I have my new PB a 4lber I got right after sunset. Encouraging to see bigger fish than the 1-2lbers I've been catching. and a little video I took on my cell phone. He was trying to hide Quote

It's been so consistent there lately, where I'll go from 6-8 and get 4 fish. (walking around switching spots takes up a bit of time. Found another spot today. I may fish the other side of the pond tomorrow to see what it's like. Quote
