  1. that is one great bass!!! i would say it is about 5lbs to 5.5lbs. just my guess from looking at the size of the mouth and the gut! sweet fish! its cool how you have you own little secret pond and it has some big ones!
  2. wow you all just made me feel like a n00b....my best time in beginner is 38 and 381 in intermediate.
  3. i have been playing this game a lot this morning because my internet keeps cutting out so i play it while im waiting for the internet to work again. its addicting! a great strategy game 8-)
  4. yes the picture i took it from was a picture of an alewife. here is the bait with the back and belly painted to match the picture to the best of my abilities. once again, it looks sloppy close up, but looks good as a whole (IMO). it will look much better when the epoxy goes on, it will be reflective and it will bring out the colors more.
  5. yeah, here's an update. i got the foil on yesterday and im gonna paint it today and epoxy later. i think this is the messiest foil job i have ever done :-[ i am not pleased. there are a lot of tiny wrinkles around the edges due to the contours of the lure. it doesnt look bad from a distance and i KNOW the fish wont mind, but its just the little things that bug me when i am inspecting the lure, you know?
  6. haha yes im not disagreeing with him, he knows best im just saying thats what I would do, i would take the easy way out ;D
  7. "...the largest 5 were about 12 pounds. Not a huge sack..." i have to disagree there, i think a 60lb 5 fish bag is amazing! ;D haha just kiddin with ya! nice bass. im still waiting for my turn to have a killer day!
  8. i dont think a missing hook holder is a big deal. all you gotta do is rip off the threads (or leave them, but it will look better without) and then either wrap new threads across the whole area, or leave it with no threads. then just lightly coat it in Devcon 2 Ton epoxy and slowly roll the rod on the table (epoxy shouldnt touch table) so that way the epoxy wont run and sag while it is still wet and drying. after about a half hour of slowly rolling it, the epoxy should have set up thick enough where it wont run anymore. hope you figure something out.
  9. that diagram is a real life saver!!!! it works every time. the text on that diagram aint so good, but the pictures really help. how i interpreted that diagram was to notice which side of the mouth the bend of the hook was, and then go in thru that gill, grab the bend of the hook, and twist it so that the eye of the hook is pointing straight back down the fish's throat. thats what i do and it works every time, and thats what i taught my dad and now he's getting the hang of removing gut hooks (80% of his fish are gut hooked).
  10. sweet fish dude!

  23. we took the boat out last night to our favorite lake. we didnt do much better than the previous day, but it was more enjoyable. i caught the first fish on a DT-6 about 30 min into our trip. right after i boated this fish, my dad hooked up with his first fish on a shimmer shad trick stick. here is the picture (mines bigger ;D): if you look closely in that picture, you will notice that when he set his rod down to land his fish, he set it down OUTSIDE OF THE BOAT! ;D i thought this was very funny! the reel was completely submerged and he didnt even know! ;D the fishing wasnt really too hot after that. we were catching bass maybe 30 minutes apart, so it was kinda slow. i caught two more on a smoke blue pepper trick stick, and my dad also caught two more on a trick stick (dont remember color). when i was fishing the trick stick, i hooked something HARD. i thought it was a snag because it was so solid. it was so solid that i was pulling the boat toward it. my dad said "whats going on" and i said "oh im just snagged, dont start the motor i'll pull us over there" and then when i got about 10 ft from the "snag" it started to move and i felt a few head shakes!!! then it moved up, i felt a head shake, and then nothing. i thought i had just lost the fish of a lifetime. i was pretty mad. but now that i think about it, it was probably just a small bass that got tangled up in some weeds pretty good, because the few headshakes i felt werent very strong. it was getting late and my dad really wanted to go to the dam but i didnt, but we went anyway. well he showed me up : he hooked a very nice fish by the lily pads by the dam and was fighting it but it came off! he was very mad. but about 15 minutes later he hooked the same fish in the same spot and landed it! 2lb 0oz bass on a green pumpkin chartail trick stick: he was pretty happy about that! anyway, that was the last fish of the night. dad: caught 4 fish (biggest), lost 2 fish me: caught 3 fish, lost 3 fish its been a while since i have out fished him!!!
  24. heres the lure with weights and hardware installed and epoxied together. next step is to test it out (i need hooks before i can do this) and then paint it. i think im going to make this one a shad color, not baby bass. the bait: wide range of motion:
