  1. my first lipless swimbait ran great, but this one, not so much. IMO, the head isnt as important as the joints (in creating action). when the water flows over the joints, vorticies cause it to swing the joint one way and then the flowing water pushes it back the other way. and the cycle continues. also, i dont think i have seen too many lipless swimbaits that only have 2 pieces. most of them have 3 or more. my hypothesis on why this one didnt swim is that i over-weighted the bait. i think i put too much weight in each section, making them too heavy to swing freely. on my next one, i am gonna put just enough weight to keep the bait sitting upright.
  2. Bassboy15 and me :-[ i dunno, maybe im just weird, but photos of fish mean a lot to me. i like to have a photo there to remind me of the fish and all the little details that the mind would otherwise forget No maybe about it , you are weird!!!!!!!!
  3. could i please see a front view of the top one? i am making a lip for my 4 segment, 7 inch swimbait (it wont swim by itself, i think lip will help) and i would like to get an idea of how wide to make the lip. thanks!

  5. ok i guess it is just a die off then, because they were all about 7-9 inches long which i think is pretty big for a shad in that small lake. thanks for the help guys.
  6. my wallet doesnt allow me the liberty of doing this anyway, i was picking up a lot of weeds using this on an exposed jig head. i could use a 2/0 EWG with a parasite weight (locks bait to hook) but those hooks are pretty large to use on ***. i just thought of some mustad stinger hooks that i have that i tie bass bugs on, i'll bet they are the perfect size. they have a big gap, but they arent offset. i suppose i could just take pliers and make em offset ;D well now im going to go experiment with ways of rigging this tricky little bait
  7. does your mommy know you quote these kind of words? ;D
  8. pretty often, how bout you? ;D i would be lookin at a pic of a 9lber everyday! ;D ;D ;D
  9. EXACTLY! that is what's stumping me. that is why i figured it must be something that would only affect the shad. some kinda shad killin' disease
  10. i thought this up while i was fishing with my dad in south carolina and i forgot my camera and i said "i better not catch anything big because i dont have a camera". he thought i was crazy for saying that. so then i asked him "would you rather catch a 9lber and not have a camera, or have your camera and not catch a thing?" he said he would rather catch the fish and not get a photo. i would be just devastated to catch a 9lber (or any new PB) and not have a camera with me. so lets hear it, would you rather...
  11. i did actually see a few dead panfish (bluegill and redear), but only a few (like 3). the fishing sucked REALLY BAD! out of about 4 or so hours, i only caught one bass and my friend only caught one. they were small (about 12-14 inches) but they looked very healthy, nothing wrong at all. we also caught a few tiny bluegill on some bread.
  12. caught my first (and only) * fish today. i was jiggling/crawling it on the bottom and then i reeled in to start my next cast and when i was bringing the lure up, it was about a foot underwater and this bass just inhaled it!!!!! i was amazed at how deeply it was hooked. it wasnt a gullet hook, but it was about as far back as you can go on the roof of the mouth. he really wanted that lure. anyway, i noticed that my * would slide down the jighead quite often. i was using a standard gammie ball jighead. i was wondering if using a drop of regular superglue would hold it on the jig?
  13. OH! with that said... ;D ummm, well i would just use 2/0 EWG's cuz thats the smallest size i have on hand and im too cheap to go buy some. ;D EWG's seem like they would offer a pretty good hookup ratio. (you really should be more descriptive in your initial post lol ;D)

  15. what do you mean by blast caps? is that something you put in the water to kill a bunch of fish that are in the immediate area? and as for the chemical, the dead fish were showing up all over the lake, so if there was a chemical involved, it must have been a whole lot of it. the water was very muddy and there was like some kind of scum pollution on top. not sure if this is a natural pollution (kinda looked like the scum pollen leaves behind) or not. maybe that has something to do with it.
  16. sweet
  17. OH! with that said... 1/0 or 2/0 gammies
  18. The lure looks kickass, but it doesnt swim for beans :'( i tried removing the floating tail and it helped a little, but not much. i am going to put a lip on it and then see how it swims.
  19. i was at the local park today, and saw about 20 dead shad in the water. i only covered a small portion of the lake, and there were a few dead shad at each spot i fished, so im sure there are hundreds of dead ones around the entire lake. these are pretty big shad (i think) they were all about 7-9 inches long. is this big for a shad? they were floating and decomposing in the shallow water and stunk really bad! what do you suppose could have caused all of these shad to die? i was guessing it was some kind of "shad-killin' disease" that was goin' around. any thoughts?
  20. well, i if i had to take them off and replace them, i'd replace them with black nickel VMC's, cuz they come standard on rapala and they are kick ***. if i had to take them off and replace them with a single hook, well i wouldn't do that. :-/
  21. soap, water, toothbrush.
  22. Zel, a much easier way than all that ctrl + other buttons crap... i use internet explorer 7, so im not sure if this will work with other versions. just above where it shows the clock in the bottom right corner of the screen, there is a magnifying glass with a plus in it, then a percent (100% by default) and then an arrow next to the percent. click the arrow for a pop-up menu. then select a percent higher than 100. this will enlarge the text on the website.
