  1. WELL.... i got the lure finished. well at least i thought they were finished. i put 2 coats of thinned epoxy and got a satisfactory clear coat, but then when i put them in a bucket of water to see their rate of fall, they all floated! so now im not quite finished. i gotta go out and drill some more holes and pour some more lead and then cover up with paint and epoxy. THEN i'll be finished.... lesson learned.... test before finish.
  2. i like the crackle effect on the bottom one
  3. i got the bass pro power plus trophy class rod rated for 1-4 oz for $25 and so far my only complaint is that the rod is pretty heavy in terms of weight. other than that it gets the job done quite well! its great for a 25 dollar rod.
  4. only instument i play is my braided line running through the guides of my st. croix avid
  5. Bass Pro brand duolock snap. never had one open up!
  6. like bowtech said, tip up and reel fast to get the buzzbait to the surface. once its on the surface you can slow down a bit to get it just barely gurgling on the surface. as for the jitterbug, i dont think it is too small. my only suggestion is to use a snap or tie onto it using a loop knot (rapala knot). this should allow more range for movement and might help get some action.
  7. sweet fish! congrats on the new pond too
  8. thanks for the compliments. either the baby bass or the bluegill always seem to be everyone's favorite the thinned epoxy worked great! the bluegill looks even awesomer with the epoxy clear coat as for selling them, i might sell a few. i dont want to get overwhelmed with having to make them for other people that it loses its fun.
  9. please tell me which of my previous lures look bad! ;D really, i dont think any of them look bad, but i do agree that these are my best. as for the photo finish, the picture is printed either on printer paper or tissue paper and then applied either to foil or foil tape and then applied to the bait. epoxy clear coat. after dinner tonight i am going to thin the epoxy with denatured alcohol so that it is thin and easy to brush and then put epoxy on these bad boys!
  10. my dad drives a 2000 nissan fronteir 2WD 4 cylinder. your's puts his to shame ;D
  11. ;D THAT'S FUNNY RIGHT THERE!!! ;D
  12. i wouldn't say there is a "best" but the easiest to use is foil tape. it is not necessary to get the foil to go around the whole bait. in fact, it kind of messes up the foil job if you try to get it to go all the way around. if you try to cover it all in foil, the foil will wrinkle because it can not conform to curves and contors of the bait. it would be like trying to wrap a piece of paper around a golf ball without getting any wrinkles in the paper....pretty impossible. i try to get the foil to completley cover the face of the lure (flat sides) and then just cover a little bit of the back and belly (like you have done....maybe a little bit more though). maybe you are trying to use contrasting colors to add some attracting qualities to the bait, but if not, you should really try to match the color of the back and belly a little better to the foil image. it will really make the bait look a whole lot nicer. i hope i'm not coming off sounding rude or anything, because i'm not trying to say your baits are bad, im just giving you suggestions for improvement but it sounds like these swim pretty good! the action is what catches fish, not the paint! keep at it man!
  13. thanks! the only thing i painted on that bluegill is the back and belly. its called a photofinish.
  14. thanks for the compliments guys! i got a new batch of swimbaits coming up. see em in the tackle making section
  15. heres a new batch i have been workin on the past two days. (the individual shots dont show the baits with eyes, the bluegills doesnt have 3-D eyes)
  16. these are just a 20 dollar pair from walmart. i have tried using rubbing alcohol and windex, neither one of them took off the spots. i guess i'll just live with spots because im not going to spend a whole bunch of money to take them off when i could probably buy a new pair for the same price.
  17. GOOD QUESTION! this was the first one of this style i made. im running out to the dollar store to pick up some spray paint so i can make more! thanks for all the comments guys!
  18. You use a 4/0 EWG for wacky rigging? sure do and it works GREAT!!! the bass inhale the whole bait so i really dont see why people use smaller hooks.
  19. ok then, i guess i fish small public lakes the most 8-)
  20. i need some help guys. i got either fish attractant or bug repellant on the lenses of my sunglasses. i left what looks like water spots but they will not come off! i dont see the spots when im wearing the glasses, but if you are looking at me while im wearing them you can see the spots. any tips on how to get this off? thanks.
  21. i checked other because i fish out of private ponds that are maybe an acre big, public lakes that are something like 375 acres, and the potomac river and the creeks that feed into it. you should have enabled multi-vote on this poll
  22. don't be hatin' on the kid with the small face! ;D they might be a lil' big, but i like the fact that they block out all perephrial light. only problem with them is i got some fish attractant or bug spray (not sure which) on the lenses and now it left what looks like water spots but they dont come off.
