  1. I am in information overload. I have been reading the Ulterra and I Pilot manuals. I'm trying to understand the I Tracks function. If I want to lay a specific track can I set it up and use the gas motor to navigate along the trail or do I have to use the Ulterra? Additionally, if I can use the gas motor does the Ulterra have to be deployed while the track is being recorded?
  2. I may be worse than Catt. I make my own plastics and love experimenting with various colors, laminates, and swirls. So I wind up carrying as many as 30 colors of some of my favorites.
  3. I have a unique garage floor which is made to drain everything to a central drain. If I unhook my boat and go in the house it will end up in the street so I use a rubber wheel chock from Harbor Freight. I stick it in front of the right front tire before I unhook.
  4. Have you tried driving over an area and recording it, then moving off and playing the recording so you can look at the stuff without any distractions and marking what you see and want to fish? That is the way I do it. When I view the recording I set up 4 screens and watch the recording with the boat off away from everything.
  5. Well it did not arrive until Thursday and was installed Friday am. I took it to the water for a while Friday pm. I like everything about it so far. I stayed away from the water over the holiday weekend but am going this pm and taking my wife so she can see how it works. I am really looking forward to learning all of the special features and capabilities of the unit. I did try my boat cover and am going to have to get it remodeled. Thanks again for all of the tips guys. I hope it will be ok for me to ask for further advice as I go through this new learning curve.
  6. Like Scott said the I pilot will do most of what you want. There are a few enhancements that you add with I pilot link and a hummingbird. I just got the Ulterra and run Lowrance units. I am totally happy with it and what it can do.
  7. It is simple 3 batteries/3 bank charger.
  8. Get a small can of wood filler and use it. I've done it several times over the years before I started covering my handles with shrink tubing. Wood glue will most likely dissolve when you get it wet.
  9. I run 2 HDS 9s, an HDS 12, power poles and a Point 1 antenna off my starting battery. I've been doing it for 2 years with no issues. I use Optima Blue top batteries.
  10. Most of the Opti problems occurred within the first few hours. If they made it past that then they did ok. I had a 2002 225 Opti that I put over 800 trouble free hours on. A lot of the problem was cause by not allowing the motor to warm up to 120° before taking off.
  11. I don't know how the Gs work but I see better sometimes with my Ls by changing frequency.
  12. I have 2 6.5' MH Lowriders. I use them for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I have one Cara 7' H. I use it for A rigs and whopper ploppers. I had 2 more but sold them to a kid on the local high school team.
  13. The scoop is that OMC bought them around 1990.
  14. Well I pulled the string and ordered one today. It is supposed to be installed next Wednesday.
  15. This year TRD because it gave us 65 bass with 14 keepers to 6.25 # this spring. I always have a Zero tied on. Can't beat a beaver on a jig.
  16. Does it stay put when you are motoring in choppy water? I am going back to the shop today with every intention of making the purchase and setting up an install date.
  17. I have molds for them and have made all sizes from 1/8 oz to 1 oz. With hooks from 1/0 to 5/0. I have not found them to be any great addition to my arsenal. I have been thinking about selling my molds as I just don't use the swing jig very often because where I fish Ned, shaky, and Trigs will out produce them.
  18. I don't care where they fit as long as they cover the rod eyes so they won't get damaged going in and out of the rod box. I sometimes use shorter ones on rods that have cranks or tops rigged up to keep the hooks out of the sleeves.
  19. My concern is the height of the foot control since it would have to be mounted flush with the deck. I don't know how much I would be using it vs the remote. If I used it a lot I would probably not like it that high.
  20. Thanks a lot fellows. I got serious about it today and went shopping. I want to keep my lss 2 and my Lowrance 2d sonar. That looks like quite a pain to get worked out. Precision Sonar is suggesting a total scan transducer, their mount and lower coil cable. The foot control is also too large to fit into my factory boat recessed foot control well. If I buy it I will have to mount the foot control above the pedal well. I am so used to having the pedal recessed. How much effort does it take to steer the unit manually? Another thing I found out is my custom boat cover would have to be altered to fit with the Ulterra. The big pro is the electrical deploy and stow. Hope I am not being too much of a pain but this has already gone over 3 gs and I not done.
  21. My assumption is that it was developed for just what it did (get you to buy some no matter where you are from). The Stacey King "Table Rock" jerk bait (chartreuse) has never produced a Table Rock fish for me but has given me several on Stockton.
  22. Powder paint is the way to go. Next you will be wanting to build yourself a fluid bed. ?
  23. Do either of you guys launch the boat and let it float away from the ramp, deploy the tm and spot lock while you go park the truck? I fish by myself most of the time and that seems like a good thing to me. Plus the boat would not be in anyone's way or be bumping against a courtesy dock.
  24. I keep mine loose so I always have to use my thumb during part of the cast.
  25. Super thanks for the info. Do you have a pic of the motor and the xducer cables?
