  1. I think you may learn to like it. 2 of my Ned rods are HMGs only shorter than that because I am shorter and really old so I need shorter and lighter stuff.
  2. Sounds like it might make a perfect Ned rod.
  3. That really isn't enough info. Some boats need it one place and some the other. Personally, for most cases I prefer the front.
  4. So is this a mold that you designed and made yourself?
  5. You are soooo right. I'd rather be on the water than anywhere else I can think of. I am quite old and plan to be on the water every chance I get until the time comes that I have to give it up.
  6. If you put it away and keep adding to the stash you may get enough to buy those power poles or upgrade to a new chart plotter.
  7. Either home made or War Eagle for me. Almost always 1/2 oz. All kinds of colors and blade configurations.
  8. All I ever used for tips is hide glue. If you use superglue or epoxy it would be a bear if you ever had to replace it. Never replaced an eye on a rod. Always took it to a pro.
  9. When I fish brush piles they are usually 20-40 feet deep. I set the hook and keep the line tight. They almost always come out by themselves. I can't hoss them out using only 10# mono.
  10. In my Verado I burn 91 ethanol free gasoline. I add Mercury Quickleen and Quikcare.
  11. You can do anything with it. Only my reels for A rigs are slower than that.
  12. It used to bother me but I just carefully select the place to post and take what ever comes. This is Glenn's site and he and the mods can run it the way they want. We are only guests.
  13. I camp a lot in a variety of campgrounds. There is always someone who had a dog and ties it up and lets it bark all of the time. I can't stand it but I don't blame the dog. I blame the person who owns the dog and hasn't bothered to train it to do what he/she wants it to do. They talk to it like it is human instead of teaching it to do what they want. Like Way2Slow I have had lots of dogs in my life and I took the time to train them to do what I wanted them to do. I don't have a dog now as I camp and fish a lot and don't want a dog in the boat and would never leave one tied up in the campground.

    Welcome. I too am a Z20 owner.
  15. As long as your current vehicle is working I suggest that you keep on using it. Stopping is the major factor. My wife has a Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk rated for 3500#. She has been towing my Nitro Z20 for nearly 3 years with absolutely no problems. It has a 6 cly engine and has plenty of power. We do have trailer brakes which I'm sure is a benefit. I also have a friend who tows his 19' Nitro with a 6 cyl Ford F150 with Ecoboost. He has no pulling problems at all.
  16. I carry 5 setups for Ned rig fishing. All are ML. 4 are spinning and 1 is a bait caster. The bait caster is a Gloomis Bronzeback with a Curado 70 and 6 # fluoro. The others are Fenwick and Gloomis with Shimano Symmetrys and 6 # fluoro. I went through a lot of setups before I settled on these.
  17. My line spooler is about 5'7" and also cooks my dinner.
  18. Google parasite clips. You can get some galvanized wire like at Lowe's or Home Depot and make your own.
  19. There is a Chinese connection and you can find them on Ebay.
  20. That looks like the stuff used to make the VMC Tokyo rig.
  21. Typically the tips are attached with a glue so a little heat will loosen it and you can take it right off with a pair of pliers. When you get it off replace it with glue that will come loose with heat. If you have an archery shop in your area you can get some hide glue. It works great for this application.
  22. You can save even more time if you learn to tie the Pitzen knot. I can tie it with gloves on in about 12 seconds on average.
  23. The more stuff you have between your bait and the main line the more likely you are to have something that will fail and maybe cost you the fish of a lifetime.
  24. My best advice to you is down load the helix manual. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader you can use it to navigate the manual. If not then down load the free version then down load the manual. I have a new Solix with I pilot link. So far I have downloaded 3 manuals and take my computer to the garage so I can look something up and then get hands on experience.
