  1. My advice to you is before you sign on the dotted line, get the amount you will be financing, the interest %, and the length of the loan, download an amortization schedule and input the numbers. That will show you what you are paying in interest and principal each month. If you are ok with it go for it.
  2. Let us know how that works for you.
  3. If you are going to a 36 volt trolling motor go ahead and get a 4 bank charger. Get a 10 to 15 amp per bank unit. Even they may take as long as 7 hours to get your batteries back to 12.7 volts.
  4. You might sell your batteries to someone and get 3 new ones so they would all be alike. I am running Optimas now. They are 4 years old and getting weak. They don’t seem to be as good as they used to be and for $300 each I am done with them. My next batteries will be Duracell at Sams Club. They are rebranded Dekas and are about a 40% savings over Optimas.
  5. I’ve seen it happen many times when fishing bridge piers in clear water.
  6. X2. That is what I do to my R wire spinner baits. I more than quadruples their lives.
  7. 12# fluorocarbon or 10# fluorocarbon is what I am using depending on which setup. Tom we don’t have vegetation in our highland reservoirs just rocks and timber. I don’t know what size the wire is. It is some bulk stainless that I have had around for a long time. A couple of my students are using .029 with success. My wire is a lot thinner than theirs. I can’t measure it as my dial calipers are out on loan.
  8. Actually it doesn’t seem so. I fished it for 2 days without losing a single bait.
  9. I just buy the $1 pack of shrink tubing from Harbor Freight. Pick the size that fits the bait and cut off pieces to slip on the worms.
  10. This thread has brought back some memories. I used to try it all and often until one day I had a blood clot get in my brain. When I came to in the hospital I was told that if I didn’t want to die I had to quit drinking and smoking. It will be 4 years June 1 since I have a beer or a smoke. So someone have one for me.
  11. I don’t have a plastic specific rod. I use at least 10 different setups for plastics. If I am using a TRD on a 1/16 oz head it will take an entirely different setup than a 3/8 shaky head on a Zinker. I think you need to consider what plastics you want to use then look for a setup that will work.
  12. I’ve owned Lowe and Tracker. I’ve sold Lund boats. Lund has always been the top of the line. Tracker is typically under powered to hold down the price and appeal to first time buyers. Lowe was a great boat but has changed hands several times so I can’t speak to the current ones. I am guessing that you are a first time owner and would not notice much difference among them. You might consider what I did. I let my wife pick my last boat.
  13. Well I have been working on designs for a while and finally found something that is working. I have caught 25 bass on them all of which were roof hooked. I am using 4/0 hooks that I modified to fit a football head mold.
  14. Sams club normally had good prices on them.
  15. Just go tie it to something and walk it off. Fix the spool and put it back on. In a couple of years take it off, switch ends and put it back on.
  16. AGM absorbed glass matt is a sealed, no spill, no overflow, no adding water, no overcharging, and boiling dry maintenance free battery. Therefore you can keep stuff in the battery compartment that you never before considered. At least that is why I went to them 8 years ago. They usually cost a little more but I think they are worth it. My first set got traded with the boat when they were over 4 years old. My second set is 4 years old and going strong.
  17. I’ve never had any reason to fish it much deeper than 25’. By that time something usually has it. I also never go heavier than 1/8 oz with 1/16 being normal. I caught fish at the 20’ mark yesterday fishing parallel using the 1/16.
  18. If you are looking for a standard lead acid battery several will do the trick. Look for RC (reserve capacity). Get the highest number in your price range. I wouldn’t go below 180 RC if it were me.
  19. I ran a 24 volt for 14 years. With good batteries it would pull a 20’ boat all day long.
  20. When wasps bothered us in campgrounds we would set up a 2 liter bottle of Coke or Pepsi with a few inches of pop left in it. They were drawn to the sugar. They would crawl in and eventually drown. That might be a cheap try.
  21. Most of the rods that I have bought from them have been unlabeled or are labeled with other brands. I know the owners and get to go down every year and buy what I want.
  22. I have bought a lot of rods that they make. Right now I have 4 in my boat. They make a lot of rods for a lot of different rod companies. They made Falcon before they took the boat to China.
  23. As far as I know each Helix has to have it’s own card.
