You remind me of my buddy David! He doesn’t sleep a wink the night before he goes fishing. I love the passion!!! Going in May can be tricky, middle of summer and middle of winter are much more predictable. You don’t like fishing deep for smallies? Oh man that’s my favorite....... I could go on and on about it for days, hopefully I will be catching deep smallies tomorrow
Haha yeah it’s usually 40 or 50 degrees all winter. Summer camping you wake up in a puddle of your own sweat. How far away is a giant smallmouth destination like maybe Erie, PA?
Out of those, trilene although I’ve never heard of the last one. p line handles well but I bought some kind of gold color and I can’t see it. It’s very strong also, you can pull a canoe back upstream with 8 lb test
I always just take them apart, shake the rocks out, then put them back together. Then again mine have had plenty of time to acquire rocks and are far simpler than a brand new tatula
I used the Albright knot when I was trying braid to FC and it seemed good and strong, Easy to tie. It was always intact after I had to break off I just got sick of fooling with it all. The one thing I never found was the “advantage” of braid w/ leader over mono.
I tried it for a couple years on spinning rods, I went back to using just plain Jane 6 and 8 lb mono. Easy, cheap, and simple. No connection knots required and I can still feel a tiny bluegill hit a jig
Winter is my favorite season for camping. As far as fishing, your possibilities are endless! I like multi day canoe float trips myself. Several tributaries of the Tennessee River offer good fishing and seclusion
MLF/FLW seems like they are trying really hard to say anything to convince people how great they are. If they were so great, they wouldn’t have to say a thing. Even a portion of their fans are defensive
