  1. Black bear hair jig and a 2.5" tube are what work best for me in the winter for river SM. Allen
  2. 6'10" ML rod I built on a NFC blank is what I have been using for Neds. I use this rod and a 6'8" MXF Avid for DS depending on the situation. Allen

    I get it now

Jackall Drift Fry Mellow Soft Plastic Swimbait - 5.2 Inch — Discount Tackle There is a video in the above link on how to fish the bait. I have had good like the past 2 years fishing this hover stroll whatever you call it technique. While I do have electronics 90% of the fish I catch on this are >5' in clear water. You do not need special jigheads or baits for this either as the best setup for me has been a ball or darter head 1/16oz with a 3-4" drop shot minnow of some kind. The CORE Hover jigheads work but are such a PITA to get straight in the bait I have quit using them. Allen
  4. Tried placing an order lately somewhere else and it wasn't until it calculated shipping that I learned 1/2 of what I ordered was out of stock. I hate when this happens because what I really wanted to order is what's missing. Allen
  5. Guess this technique is suited for the new Winged Fluke Zoom came out with. 4" Winged Fluke - Zoom Bait Company Last count 2 years ago I had 72 hand pour and 84 spincast molds in the garage. Down to about 400lbs of lead so that could limit me.😄 Allen
  6. Why didn't someone post about these 6 months ago? I really could have used something like this for the clear summer river conditions. Guess I will just add another $25 worth of these jigheads to the ever-growing bill of jigheads I have bought lately. Allen
  7. Somewhere in my basement I have a bunch of chatterbaits like the brown one in the upper left corner. Bought them at Sportsmans Liquidators years ago for $0.50 each just to get the blades. Now that you can buy chatterbait blades again they are just part of the stuff I need to get rid of. Allen
  8. What are you going to spend that big check on? Allen
  9. BPS soft plastics were made by Southern Plastics in Eufala, Alabama until SK/Lews bought SP. Allen
  10. There are tons of different trailers on the market. So for the purpose of simplification you need only two. Action: these are the ones that have appendages that flap, swim, and cause commotion in the water. These are what you use in warm water aggressive bite. Subtle: cooler water, non-aggressive bites when a Subtle presentation works best. The trailers in this category are plastic chunks or pork. If you have no idea what to start with I recommend a Zoom Super Chunk that matches the jig color. I have fished this trailer for over 20 years and it has worked in every situation. Allen
  11. Zoom Super Chunk Sr/Jr Berkeley Chigger Craw Double tail grub Latest one has been the Missile Baits one in Fried Watermelon Allen
  12. Let me see what I have if you are looking for any. Anytime I need a deeper diving jerkbait usually in spring. Bait dives deeper than the LC Pointer 78dd that I normally use. Allen
  13. Guess I could bag a Panda and dye the white hair. Allen
  14. I find some of these occasionally at fishing flea markets around here. Allen
  15. Looking for a source of brown bear hair for jigs. Small scraps would work I just can't find any. Figured I would ask to see if anyone hunts for them or know a taxidermist. Allen
  16. Is that brown bear hair? I have been looking for brown bear hair for years. Allen
  17. Never found a frog color that didn't work? Like all topwaters though I generally use something with a white or black belly. Best frog for me has been the Zoom Horney Toad GP over pearl white. Allen
  18. What are you using as a trailer for this? Allen
  19. Clean reels and respool line for the most part. Making baits if it is warm enough in the garage. Allen
  20. Swore I would not buy anything but bullet weights and line this year. Fell off the wagon and spent about $300 in the past two days. Started innocently with looking around the internet for some Hayabusa shooting star jigs that then snowballed out of control. Allen
  21. Best night bait for me is a black spinnerbait with a Colorado blades. If the water is clear and the moon provides light daytime baits work. Allen
  22. Smaller baits work better for me with colder water. Try the LC Pointer 78dd in whatever color that looks good to you. Allen
  23. You have to bend a 30 degree wacky rig jig hook to 60 degree to fit into the mold. That's how I made the stupid heads for this 2.5" tube. Allen
  24. This one caught my eye. Allen
  25. Same here, I am not good with chatterbaits though. Allen
