  1. I have learned that making crankbaits is hard to do. Even though I have caught fish on them weighing and getting the bills in straight isn't easy. Looks like you are on your way. Allen
  2. Check with Earthworm77 I think he is painting soft plastics? Allen
  3. 5/16 oz finesse jig Suspending jerkbait square lipped crankbait Allen
  4. http://www.smithwicklures.com/Smithwick_2006.pdf Scroll down and look a the Lazer Craw, I think it is the closest I have seen to Rayburn Red? Allen
  5. Do you have a pic? I own about 100 Rogues some of which are old but I have never seen any that would make Rayburn Red (like excalibur rayburn red)? Allen
  6. While I will use snaps with hardbaits I never use them on a spinnerbait. If you try more than a couple different spinnerbaits and cannot get them to work you are using the wrong lure. Usually if I am changing spinnerbaits I am just using a differnt weight of the same color. Allen
  7. Short arms for single colorado blade baits and longer arms for everything else. Allen
  8. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/Content/spinnerbait_topics.htm http://www.luremaking.com/catalogue/download/spinnerbait.pdf Allen
  9. Looks like you are part of the troop surge? When I saw that on the news I just started to get my life in order to go but the order has not come yet? Allen
  10. Strike King Wild Shiner = $0.99 Dick's bargin bin Allen
  11. St. Croix Premier about $90 each. I bought 2 of them a couple of years ago with the intention of upgrading to Loomis in the future. These work great and I do not plan on upgrading and if they break I will just replace with the same rod. Another option is to buy a cheap IM6 rod at Wal-Mart for like $20? Low end rods have more of a parobolic flex that you are looking for. The downside would be that they are heavier and not built very well but you are not out much money. Allen
  12. What type of jig; finesse, flippin, swimming? Then there is the grass vs rocks issue? I make different ones for different fishing conditions. The main thing would be starting with a good quality hook not a Eagle Dull $3 per 100,000. Allen
  13. I am going to have to bend a wireform like one of these to try out. It looks like it would not be very stable though? Allen
  14. LC G-Splash 65 works the best for me. Allen
  15. I can cast a crankbait a lot further on one of my crankbait rods than a standard fast action rod. Allen
  16. I would say somewhere between $25-30 for a Megabass Vision (which has caught nothing) or a custom painted LC crank. Allen
  17. 50A, and I am running the same TM as you. Allen
  18. They do work from the bank but not as well as if you are in a boat. Try going to Big Lots and buying a telescopic light bulb changer. It costs like $5 and works from the bank with the added benefit of being able to remove lures from trees. Allen
  19. Black. Allen
  20. I couldn't agree more! Just looking at the components that make up one of these they are the most s*****y made baits ever. Allen
  21. I have used both the Mustad and Gamakatsu(sp?) hooks and cannot tell the difference? Once I had both hooks seperated into different piles why pouring and the box was knocked over. I just said f*** it and put them all together because I could not figure out what was what? The only difference is price and bragging rights if you are a hook snob? Allen
  22. What is the difference between the RC 1.5 and the BDS 2 models? I love the RC's and was looking at getting some more when I saw these and they look very similar. Allen
  23. I just changed mine after 3 years because there was less than 50 yards of braid left on the spool. Allen
  24. This would be the cheapest way to start to so if it is for you? Buy pre-poured and painted heads (this would save you a lot of trouble), banded skirts, swivels and blades, etc. to assemble. What ominousone said is right about getting into tacklemaking. If you like it and do not pour any other lead jigs, etc I would just have someone else pour the heads for you? Right now I have a couple custom molds that were $200 each to pour spinnerbaits so it can get expensive depending what you want. Allen
  25. What have you been doing since you do not have the official meat gazing wizz quiz? Allen
