  1. Alright send me the Tenn shad one with the red eyes Good work there! I always had a question about making cranks. How do you adjust the weight on them? I just make small wooden cranks and use a 1/8oz drop shot weight. Besides suspend dots/strips or wrapping soldier around the hooks how do you do it? Allen
  2. What about the airbrush city air compressors? Right now I am leaning torwards a badger 180-10/12. Allen
  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/Paasche-D200-Air-Compressor-1-6-HP-for-Airbrush_W0QQitemZ250170819815QQihZ015QQcategoryZ134557QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Does anyone use this compressor or one like it? I am looking for a quiet compressor that I can use in my basement to paint baits. Allen
  4. Lucky Craft RC 1.5 in whatever color you feel looks the best. I have 5 different colors and they all work! The Bandit 100 is a good bait but since they moved their production to China the quality has gone way down. Allen
  5. Color and thickness of the skirt depend on water clarity and temp. Hare jigs are the way to go for water below 40 degrees. For warmer water the jig weight, color and thickness of the skirt all depend on the conditions. If fishing cooler water (45-60 degrees) I use a lighter weight like 1/4oz but for a reaction bite I use 1/2oz in 3' water. Water clarity determines what color and thickness of the skirts I use for jigs. For clear water I like a small profile jig like the Eakins Jewel with a small trailer in a natural color. Stained water I still use natural colors but I will either move up to a full skirt jig or add a larger trailer to the Eakins jig. Muddy water I only use a solid black jig and trailer with a micromunch skirt because it gives me the largest profile. Allen
  6. I have one of those Falcon spinnerbait boxes that holds like 30 spinnerbaits which is beyond full. Buzzbaits do not work well for me and even though I have like 50 of them the only one that works is an old white lunker lure one I found in a tree that squeels so bad it hurts your ears. While I use everything from a single bladed 1/8oz to a 6 bladed 1oz (personal prototype) you only really need a few to start with. Black w/blade single colorado for night and muddy water, white/chart front silver colorado and rear gold willow, and finally whitish with single or double silver willows. Depending upon the water depth and current you could use either 3/8 or 1/2oz baits. Others may disagree but I like thinner wire on spinnerbaits for the vibration as it works better for me. If you are just starting out Booyah makes a decent bait but I would stat away from the $1 Wallymart baits. If you have anymore specific questions about them just ask as I have made 100's of spinnerbaits. Allen
  7. Needle nose pliers Allen
  8. I think Barlows Tackle has the wire frames? Allen
  9. 5/16oz jig (like Gman I make my own) in either light or dark brown that looks like the one in Gmans avatar. If I had to buy some it would be the Eakins Jewel jig in brown or pumkinseed. For trailers I usually use a Zoom super chunk jr or a small craw but a lot of differnt trailers work. Allen
  10. Slender pointer 97MR is my #1 fall clear water bait! I caught close to 70 fish on day last September on the UP including a 13" sunfish. If you want to see a collection of expensive Japanese jerkbaits stop by my house some time? The bait monkey knows they are my weakness and he uses it against me. :-[ I have went as far as installing Japanese translation software to try and buy them from Japanese sites. My next bait to find is a Evergreen Side Step minnow but the only place I can find them is Ichiban tackle and I do not want to pay $15 to ship a $16 lure. Allen
  11. Husky Jerk in silver w/black back works well in this area. While you are shopping pick up a Smithwick Super Rogue Jr. in the same color. For some reason blue back baits do not work around here for me and firetiger only catches walleyes? Ghost minnow and pearl ayu colored LC pointers are what I mainly use. Now I do have friends that do well on tenn. shad HJ's and x-raps. Allen
  12. Actually I went to high school with a couple of them but I will not name names? One started from a drug habit and the other was forced into it by a boyfriend with a drug habit. Allen
  13. What are you talking about LC are cheap compared to Megabass? While I am a Smithwick Rogue fan I have to say in clear spring or fall water a LC will outfish just about any other jerkbait. I thinkk Rogue and Rapala with their Husky Jerk need to produce a transparent/translucent "ghost minnow" color to compete? In clear water they shy away from a opaque colored bait and that is where a LC shines. I will admit that last spring a xcaliber XS4 bait in ghost was my go-to over LC but it is still a $10 bait. Jerkbaits are one of my main strong points and I consider myself a semi-expert on fishing them in the river. Larry has a secret lure that no-one has heard about called a tube? Allen
  14. Don't worry? They will no longer paint anymore crooked lines in Mexico. They are now too busy building homes in the U.S.! Allen
  15. I have one that is 100% guarenteed!!! Drive on Prospect street between Hub City Cycles and the mission and if you see a girl you like just say "I have $40 get in". Allen
  16. Old microwave and a GLASS (very important) pyrex cup is the easiest for me. Try Lurecraft.com they have some good stuff on their site for supplies. Allen
  17. Took the words right out of my mouth! Allen
  18. A white w/silver blade roostertail will catch anything that swims around here. Allen
  19. #1 color is crayfish in the river. Top 5 baits: Bandit 100, Mann's baby 1-, Luhr Jensen Klawdad, 1/4oz plastic big O, and LC RC 1.5 (#1 crankbait this year so far). Allen
  20. Thanks! Now no-one will want to trade them to me? Seriously I have been catching more fish in the UP than any other jerkbait in the fall. The only problem is I end up breaking the bills by hitting rocks or the TM head. Allen
  21. I picked pointer on the list but it depends on the day? LC and TD minnows have caught tons of fish for me but so has a $3 Rogue and a $5 Husky jerk. Someone mentioned the SK wild shiner? Well I have a silver one (gizzard shad is the name I think) that I got out of a Dick's bargin bin for $0.89 that has caught so many fish it is missing most of its paint! Now I have several $28 Megabass Visions that I cannot buy a bite on? Allen My top baits in no particular order: 1. LC pointer 78sp 2. LC Slender pointer 97mr 3. TD Minnow 1091 4. Smithwick Rogue 5. Husky jerk HJ-10 6. Evergreen M-1 minnow 7. Xcalibur XS4 8. SK Wild shiner Baits that I cannot get to work: 1. O.S.P. Asura = cannot get to run right and hooks are too small 2. X-Rap = apparently I am the only person who cannot get these to work? My nose or tail down and no matter what I try they never suspend right. 3. Megabass Vision 95= I have caught fish on gummie worms, bare hooks, open snap swivels but not this lure? enough said. 4. Matsuo?= Look good in the package but run like s**t. Don't waste your time or effort for $3-5 buy a Rogue that will actually catch fish. Jury is still out: 1. Vision 110= While I have caught some fish with this one the outbarb hooks destroy the paint and I still cannot get the bait to suspend level. 2. LC staysees= My ADD must kick in when while fishing these because I think I move them too much and never catch anything.
  22. White= Anytime Smoke, clear, translucent, whatever you want to call it= In clear water when they are feeding on baitfish. Actually smoke and watermelon are the only 2 colored senkos I use in clear water. Allen
  23. Start by using the guidelines T-Rig posted but like others have said don't be afraid to go against the rules. I have caught fish on a LC RC 1.5 in water temps from 43-85 degrees in both clear and muddy water. Allen
  24. Great news! I lose so many of these I need to stock up. Allen
  25. Besides the senko I think this is the greatest soft plastic ever! I have literally caught thousands of bass on this bait. Most of the time I fish for SM in rivers so a green pumkin baby brush hog matches the forage so well. T-rigged on a slider or Jobee jighead pitched or drug across the bottom is the way I fish these? They are kind of like a senko in that there is not a real wrong way to fish them. Allen
