  1. Apples and oranges, a chug bug is a popper and the gunnish is a walking bait. For me it outfishes the spook jr, sammy, megabass giant dog-x, jackall bonnie and any other walking bait I have tried. The 95mm size works the best as the 75mm size is hard to get walking correctly and the 115 is big for the waters I fish. Allen
  2. http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=6&Product_ID=2885&CATID=57 Just found this hook and it appears to be what you are looking for? Allen
  3. The lure Raul posted I believe is a Tru -Tungsten? My question is why do you think you need a EWG hook? I pour mine on a 60 degree flat eye 4/0 (most shakey heads are 2/0 or 3/0) and have no problems with hookups. Remember you have to balance your tackle for the fishing situation. Look at those jig pics that GMAN posted, now that is a medium-heavy 28 degree Mustad hook. That hook works great for pitchin jigs on a MH rod with 12lb+ line. Shakey heads are fished on 6-8lb line with a ML or M action spinning rod. The thicker the hook the greater force it takes to penetrate their mouth. Just something to think about and if you want just about anything can be made? I could make a 1/32 oz shakey head with a 6/0 flippin hook and steel spring. Allen
  4. Best topwater I own hands down! It does not walk like a spook or sammy. The gunnish has a frantic side to side motion unlike the smooth glide of a sammy. This bait is part popper so it spits water while you walk it and like I said before it is my best topwater. Allen
  5. A shad rap RS works well as a suspending jerkbait if you just use short pulls instead of hard jerks. Allen
  6. http://www.mdbass.com/ Here is the link. Allen
  7. Have to add that while you register your boat trailer at the DMV your boat is registered through the DNR. It took me waiting in line 3 hours at the DMV to find that one out. Allen
  8. Forgot how young you are? There is a junior tournament trail in the state and if you are interested I know the guy that basically runs the whole thing. Allen
  9. Check out the MD Bass website it lists all the clubs in the state by county. Clubs will have their own tournaments that do not cost anything except your $55 annual Bass fee. You can join as a non-boater to get experience and usually your only cost is 1/2 of the gas. Allen
  10. Besides the Rebel crayfish I have good luck on a Luhr Jensen Klawdad. Allen
  11. I like the 3600 boxes for my red BPS bag that way I have some room leftover for my freezer bags full of soft plastics. Now for spinnerbaits nothing beats a Falcon box. Allen
  12. RC 1.5 is my #1 fish catching crank for the year. Allen
  13. You can use one or 2 sizes up or down in hooks in Do-It molds. I pour on both Gamakatsu and Mustad hooks but for personal use I like the Mustads. They are cheaper and I have never had a problem with one. Allen
  14. Exact same way I store them! and it works better than anything I have tried. Allen
  15. Do-It just started making them in the smaller weights but you will have to buy 2 different molds to cover that range. Let me check my molds tonight and I can post the model number. Allen
  16. I think this may have to do with the all kill tournaments? There are tournaments where all the fish are eaten at a fish fry afterwards. Allen
  17. Do not launch at Four Locks go up to McCoy's Ferry and launch at that ramp. The area around McCoy's Ferry is too shallow and the ramp is not big enough for large boats. If you want to learn about the river buy Ken Penrods book on fishing the Upper Potomac river. It was written about 1990 but he explains the different sections of the river usually from Dam to Dam. The book lists all the public ramps and even gives directions to them. Allen
  18. Unfortunately yes. > What size is your boat and motor? Allen
  19. I keep them in their original bags unless I cannot clearly see what they are? I then store all similar baits in a 1 gallon clear freezer bag. This is the best method I have found to carry the most plastics in the least amount of space. Allen

    Bait snob

Man 6 pages Like others have said my baits I carry range from $.99 dollar bin to $35. I will use any bait that works but in the last couple of years with companies outsourcing overseas the quality have gone down. Bandit use to be my favorite crank and whil I still use them the new ones suck. Yes I would rather pay $15 for a bait that runs correct than 3 $5 lure that cannot be tuned. Since my time on the water is valuable I do not want to spend all day trying to tune baits. Price does not equate fish catching ability? I have some Megabass Visions that do not catch anything but grass! I also have a SK wild shiner I found for $.99 that is missing half the paint from catching fish. Since I carry 3 lure retrievers I hardly ever lose any baits anyway. This year I have found more lures than I have lost. My TM head breaks more lures than I ever lose :-[. Allen
  21. Dam 3 only once and the water is low so I do not think I can put my prop boat in there? Dam 5 is about the same as Dam 4 except less walleyes. Allen
  22. Anyone else becoming a bait snob? I find myself buying mostly expensive Japanese baits these days. Now I still carry the $5 baits but hardly use them because of the LC and Team Diawa baits. Allen
  23. kbkindle, I have a unpainted factory poes crankbait body you can have. Not sure what kind of cedar it is but someone at a saw mill should be able to tell you? Allen
  24. Besides the rods you already have the only other rod you should get would be a 6'6" - 7' crankbait rod. St. Croix makes one in the premier series for about $90 that works great. Allen
  25. Dam 3 is at Dargans bend which I believe is in Fredrick county? I have only been there once this year and we drove through Sharpsburg to get there. Dam 5 is south of Clearspring and about 30 minutes + or - 10 minutes. Allen
