  1. Unless Eastman Chemical (a Fortune 500 company) offers me a staff accountant internship, I'll be stuck in auditing or taxes. :-/ Many of the public accounting firms that was there, don't do a lot of internship in consulting, valuation, etc. One of the firm was so small, they just hire for auditing and taxes, because they don't always have a consulting case. The ones that usually have a steady line of consulting case do not generally put interns on those case without prior experience. If any accounting firm(s) step forward for an interview or offer me a spot it will more than likely be in auditing. Part of me saw this coming, but I'm still optimist. lol. It looks like I cannot get into the evaluation, analysis, and consulting until after I get a master or something.
  2. I would not say I'm a master at accounting, but I'm getting there. ;D
  3. Tomorrow my school is hosting an accounting network day, where 10 CPA firms and couple corporations will be on campus to recruit for accounting jobs and internships. Other than dressing professional, being courtesy, and having a prepare resume. Any advice on how I should speak to the representatives? I don't want to talk too much, but I don't want give them less information. I need get them interested in interviewing me for an internship. Any advice on how to interact with them would be greatly appreciated. I've already done a small amount of research on the firms I'm most interested in working with, but I'm try make an impression on as many as I can.
  4. TWRA are stern, stern, but fair.
  5. Nah, we used wikipedia a lot. ;D
  6. Mountain biking. Pretty much loves an outdoor adventure here and there. I didn't fish that much this year. I just felt burned out from fishing. From 7th grade to freshmen year of college I did nothing but fish. This year, I grab mine bike and rode more than fishing. I don't know why. I didn't buy a single rod n reel combo this year. I bought at least one the last 6 years.
  7. You spent $2,000 on a bicycle? To each his own I guess. Yup. It just like any other hobbies and goods. They all have low end stuff at economical price and high end goods at high prices. Worth every dime though. I'm happy with the performance this bike has given me for the price I paid.
  8. That sucks. I know a guy that finished a 8 hour race in like 7 hours and 30 minutes around 70-80 miles on a single speed. Single speed is hard in the mountain, man. I'll stick to my $2,000 27-speed mountain bike. ;D
  9. My laptop seems to be acting weird. The left shift, s, x, button don't work properly. I have to hit them more than once for it to show up when I'm typing.. Any suggestion how to fix this problem?
  10. I fell out of my chair when I saw the score..Holy crap! haha. Congrats to JMU.
  11. I told you so! Even with Ingram being out, it didn't matter, because Richardson will pick up the slack.
  12. Marked. Spurrier got little cocky last year before Bama game and Mark Ingram decided to shut him up. ;D
  13. Alabama has best stable of running backs in the country. Eddie Lacy looked real good last week. 13 rushes for over 100 yards and TD. These guys will pick up the slack. Richardson rushed for 100 yards in N.C. game against a Texas defense, pretty good, huh?
  14. It doesn't matter with Ingram being out. Richardson is just as good. Watch his highlights. Not to mention it appears McElroy is comfortable passing the ball. It just matter whether the young defense can mature really quick. I'm not worried with Ingram being out, because I have high confident in Richardson and McElroy to keep the offense clicking.
  15. The Federal Government and Financial Aid offices at colleges everywhere needs to communicate properly and efficiently. It's a total cluster ****! I received a scholarship from a third party, and when I filled out my loan paper to cover my apartment it didn't mention anything about any form of scholarship affecting the amount of loan I can receive. ETSU, my scholarship, nor Federal Government told me anything. A week after I received my loan and already spent it on rent and a meal card, I get an email from ETSU saying I was "over awarded" and will have to return a certain amount of my loan that I no longer have. They said Federal Government had informed them that I couldn't receive the amount I received due to my scholarship. ETSU said they apologized for such inconvenienced and had no way of knowing until the day they sent me the email. Are you freaking kidding me?
  16. Before we get to that, how about that Boise State game. ;D Florida is extremely lucky they wasn't playing Appy State or somebody with a little better offense. LSU is lucky too of course. Ole Miss. was quite the stunner. Who you guys got for week 2? I got Miss. State over Auburn. Miami over Ohio State. Alabama over Penn State. Maybe Tennessee over Oregon. Mostly because the defense coordinator is former Boise State D coordinator who knows Oregon offense and knows how to stop them.
  17. Maybe we ought to send them an email back toying with them? Or renegotiate a different term to split the money and stuff like that.
  18. It doesn't matter what route you take, trade school, 4 year, 2 years, etc. It still going be really hard to get a job. Especially if you lack experience in the field you are applying for. Just take the route you will love. Whatever it is you want to be good at and have the passion to make a career out of it, that's the route you need to take. If your dream does not include a bachelor's degree, then you don't have to go that way. IMO, society thinks we all need a college degree, it's pretty wrong IMO. I have an associate and almost have a bachelor, it doesn't make me feel any more special than the next guy. It just makes me feel more qualify in certain area than some people, but overall I don't feel more special. I don't even have my associate hanging up on the wall..
  19. I don't know what was said, but what if it a female from his class?
  20. Two guys I know are starting a political and economic blog and asked me to do an economic piece from time to time. I'll start all of my post "in my opinion." ;D ;D You guys ever heard of a place called Topix.com? If you type in your zip code and if it anything like my town there all kinds of slander and defamation. I haven't been to my local Topix.com forum, but there plenty of it to be found.
  21. ONE of mine accounting book is 230 bucks. Just for one book. As you get into upper level classes the books get more expensive. I had about 4-5 books over 200 bucks brand new. Each. I either rent them, get it cheap from Barnes and Nobles authorized sellers, or borrow from a friend who had the class before me. I spent maybe $200 bucks so far this year on 4 books. rented 3 from Chegg got the other from Barnes and Nobles authorized seller. I still need a marketing book, but it a loose leaf book which only cost 50-80 bucks at bookstore, but you cannot return loose leaf books. : I had an economic book during my 1st year before I discovered Chegg, I bought it for 190 bucks at bookstore, and at end of semester I couldn't sell it back. Edit: Barnes and Nobles authorized sellers have some good prices. Chegg didn't rent out my management science book and instead of spending 155 at the book store, I got it 55 bucks from the authorized seller. I got a calculus book from an authorized seller for 20 bucks. Granted I couldn't sell calculus book anywhere at the end of semester, but I was glad to take a $20 loss than a $140 loss.
  22. They're still waiting for the blood test, but as of now the theory is I blackout from my body being stressed. I don't believe it, but whatever. My blood pressure is 116/84. Darn near perfect. Ah well, screw it.
  23. I wish I had the ability to speak foreign language. There's an untapped market out there.
  24. I made a post couple weeks ago on how to determine if you are better off renting or buying. I thought it was beautiful piece of work.
  25. I was getting an allergy test today and I passed out after the 2nd round of the test. 3 rounds of test total. Mine body temperature spiked, lips turned green, vision was blurry, etc. I was incoherent for 20 minutes before I realized what had happen and what was going on. 4 nurses and a doctor was cooling me off and monitoring me. I have to get my blood drawn later as precaution to see if anything else was a factor in this other than just passing out from repetitive injection. Out of 110 needles I was positive to like 10-12 things. Worst morning ever. :-/
