  1. I have not done well with wacky rigged senkos .I have heard how well it works though. I can't imagine it could work any better than a T rig. The bass absolutely love a t rigged senko. I'll have to try wacky again though.
  2. I catch a lot of fish In the summer by reeling a 5 - 6 inch senko on the surface. Talk about some wild explosions ! I now skip a lot of my casts even if I don't have to. I believe the subtle entry into the water has increased my catch rate a lot. I know some of you would sneer at this but, I also fish with live ' gills, with no cork. Almost fish em like I would with plastic baits. Great big bass weapon.
  3. I keep mine in a dedicated plastic container with trays. I take them out of the bags and separate them according to size and colors. I have a hook and weight box that are separate. I have a plastic tote box with a handle that holds 4 containers. One of them is for senko s. I keep mine in my fishing room , which is a little room between my garage and the backyard. It stays under shade most of the day and the gate type door is well ventilated. I don't have any trouble with baits being ruined , unless they get wet in the boat somehow. I got the organizational idea from @Glenn. Love it !
  4. SON ! Good job Roland. Er , uh,, Lonnie.
  5. You could also check your rod guides to see if they have a burr on them that would cause it to weaken or shred the line. I have a rod like that. I lost several good fish with the braided line on that combo before I figured it out . Palomar knots are great for braided line. Never had one knot slip with it.
  6. Was planning to go surf fishing this afternoon but changed my mind and stayed home and fished my home lake. Had my Grandaughter along. She is really improving with her casting and fish hooking and fighting skills. She lost her biggest fish, but not because of the way she fought it. The fish were very active , biting mostly senkos and flukes in various colors. We ended up with 24 bass caught, and the big fish was 5 pounds, 10 oz. It was one of those memorable days that is a lasting memory. Even the sunset was beautiful.
  7. There's never been a live one caught or killed, never one hit by a car, no bodies, no bones. I agree there are undiscovered creatures but Bigfoot ain't one of em. I've heard things in the woods I can't explain either but I agree with Blue- it's a hoax. Things do seem stranger in the woods, esp. At night. Bears can walk upright and sometimes have mange, which gives them a strange look. Not ridiculing anyone for there beliefs, and I know it's exciting to think something's out there and I don't doubt you saw SOMETHING but how is it possible with NO specimens of a supposedly large animal like that ?
  8. If your in Florida, please come release him into my lake. It would be nice to have some 6 inch 1 pounders in there.☺
  9. Nice !
  10. Ours is treated often because it's so shallow and weeds/algae would completely take over if we didn't. Frogs are good in thick vegetation, but not so much in algae.Theres not much else to do except fish any open pockets, or try punching.
  11. I've had a good spring for bass between 5-7 pounds. That kind of got squelched when I lost what could have been a new PB a couple weeks ago. Losing that fish took the starch out of me. I haven't been out in the boat fishing since then yet. Point is, it happens to the best of us at times. That's what makes it so much fun when you break the slump. And the hard times is when you grow and adapt. Be sure to share the pics when you break through!
  12. We have a pest control company here that has the long - standing motto " We kill everything that crawls except babies" Kind of makes you wonder what they were into before they did pest control ?
  13. Glad every thing came out smoothly !??
  14. Havin' some fun today. Created a fun kind of obstacle course for my G. Daughter. The events involved running, swimming , climbing fishing, kayaking etc. When she finished, my grandson joined us and we went swimming. After that, she wanted to bream fish, and while reeling one in, a bass ate the bream and broke the line. She got my live bait rod, caught another bream , hooked it on, and we watched 2 bass come by and start checking the bream out. The bigger one ate the bream and took off. After counting to 10 she began tightening up and at just the right moment, started reeling ( circle hook ) After a nice fight , with a full jump, she landed the fish. The fish weighed 4 pounds 1 oz. It was her PB largemouth. She also revived the fish and we watched it swim off. Good times !!
  15. I killed all kinds of things when I was young and turned out ok. I have learned since then that God's creatures have a purpose. That purpose may be for me to eat them. Certain bugs ( like roaches ) will all die.Rats will die. Cottonmouths will die if they come on my property. I have lightened up a lot, especially with non poisonous snakes. They keep the rat population down ! I personally wouldnt berate a kid that wasn't my own for killing a snake , but to each his own.
  16. I fish senkos weigtless. Deadly !!
  17. You basically just described how I fish...most of the time.
  18. My rule of thumb is the bigger the bait the bigger hook you can use, and vice. versa. Too big of a hook or too heavy and it will mess up the natural action of the bait fish.I try to use as small a hook as I can get away with for that reason.I caught a 5 3/4 pound bass the other day on a 3 inch 'gill using a small # 2 circle hook. With a circle hook, you allow them to tighten up the slack, then do a slow, steady pull to set the hook ( not a quick , violent set ) On a big shiner I might go up to a 3-4 /0 bait holder or wide gap hook. I hook the bream or shiners through both lips, from bottom to top. I also only use bronze hooks. No gold or silver ! I catch more fish with no cork either, but sometimes you need one to keep it out of the grass. I don't know anyone except me that does this, but you can fish small live bream almost like fishing a plastic bait. Throw em out and reel a few turns violently, let it sink, wait a little, and do it again. Deadly ! And live bream are legal in Fl., as long as you catch them on hook and line.
