  1. The deepest hole I have heard of in a Florida lake is 90+ feet in Kingsley lake. That lake had water clarity of at least 20 feet, which is incredible for Florida.I know its the clearest lake Ive fished, and it made fishing during daylight hours pretty hard. Cant imagine 300 ft of water, unless its 75 miles offshore or so in the ocean! But 300 feet clarity ? Sounds like somebodies pulling your leg on that.
  2. Its liability or selfishness. Ive let kids fish on my property and hopefully it helped them. The last 2 knocked on my door and politely asked. I told them they could, with a few rules. Catch and release only, and they could only fish if I was home. It got to where they started coming by too much, wanting to take my boats/kayaks out, asking for fishing tackle, etc. And I know they had kept some fish secretely. I put up with it, hoping to make a difference in their lives, and they eventually quit coming by. I think that relates somehow to your post. Dont blame the owner though. People are lawsuit crazy in our society.
  3. I love winter fishing. Its the only time of the year I dont sweat !!! Most of the time anyway.?
  4. My advice would be "Endeaver to persevere" ?
  5. I can still fish all day but it helps if they're biting !! ? I broke my right thumb badly when I was 19. Now its hard for me to throw heavier bait casting gear very long. I use spinning more anyway. At 58, Im good for at least 4 hrs or so before my lower back starts talkin' to me.
  6. My home lake is shallow and weedy. I have a poor to mediocre topwater hardbait bite at best. In complete contrast, I often have a good to excellent topwater bite on moving plastics, such as lizards, ribbon tailed worms, flukes, ,and senko-type baits, esp. around grass. That's if I can get them up on top before they get clobbered ?
  7. I tried a garlic based scent a few times and I swear it made the fish spit it out more than normal .For some reason, most of the fish that take whatever bait I use rarely spit it out anyway.
  8. Started out this afternoon determined to improve on my spinnerbait game. Cloudy, cool , and nice ripple of breeze again.Got 2 on it in probably an hour. Gave up and started with the zoom pumpkin lizard , to follow last weeks pattern .Good bite with them for another hour or so, except none on top . Just like last week, I started for home and fished the good eel grass beds on the way. Ued a new yum dinger color ( alabama bug? or craw ? )Anyway the fish were all over them, I caught 3 fish on consecutive casts. Caught 12 total. The pics are not in sync with the story this time for some reason
  9. I have used the zoom salty super flukes for over 15 years, and have caught hundreds of bass on them, the biggest one was app. 8 pounds. A friend gave me a couple packs of the yamamoto flukes and the bass really hammered them. 2 packs isnt enough to make a judgment , but I was impressed.
  10. 200 bucks for 1 bait ? No wonder your angry , John. ?
  11. What's the primary baitfish there ?
  12. I would love going there someday, but Id go homeless trying to afford I'll bet !?
  13. That was a toad. I noticed it was just over 25 inch. The 8 pounder I caught this july was exactly 25 , and she was really solid. That baccarac fish has to have a huge girth !
  14. Nice ! 43 fish over 7 in 4 days ? I Ive caught 7 over 7 in my LIFE. Humbling.
  15. I have a box full of colors but watermelon red or watermelon seed are my go toos. If it is very bright sun I may also throw the one with gold sparkle. Its called something ? bream. I also use red shad in lower light conditions. I catch at least 90 % of my fish on it just dead sticking. 2nd best method for me is pulling it over and through grass. I use a 3/0 wide gap gammy hook rigged weightless.
  16. Senkos, zoom super fluke, and ribbon tailed worms. T-rigged, go as weightless as possible.
  17. One of my all time favorite fishing commercials.
  18. Started fishing around 330 today. Man, was it slow at first. Got a couple on a red shad culprit worm, and a small grape lucky strike worm by our island. Drifted across the south end all the way to the farthest point from my house. Found a school and picked off 4 or so with an orange senko and 5 inch watermelon red yum dinger .Started working west into the setting sun along the south shore and decided to pull out the zoom lizard. Immediately began getting blows ups around and across eel grass. I caught 8 or so with the lizard until they quit. I decided to head toward home and maybe the bite would start again when I got closer to home and it did. This time they began clobbering 5 inch senkos, again on eel grass edges. The last fish was 4.14. Got a crappy pic. The fish was bleeding badly, which I didnt realize until I looked at the pic later. Hope she'll make it. She swam off like nothing was wrong anyway. I enjoyed the afternoon very much. Temps were sooo nice, low 70s. Bluebird skies, and nice ripple on the water. Bite Started very slow, but ended very hot ! Ended up with 18.
