  1. I am right handed and use left handed bait casters. It just works for me. I didn't use to see it that often but now I see all the time.
  2. One other thing...... If I read the instructions correctly, it is possible to over tighten the cast control knob causing the DC function not to work. The instructions word it like this ....."If the cast control knob is tightened more than necessary, the DC System can not demonstrate its original performance."
  3. I just purchased a Curado DC and have not had any issues yet but I have only just tossed it around a pond that just thawed. I have seen this on a Calcutta DC reel though and it was a simple fix..... The guy I saw with this issue fought it for about a month and was ready to return it or ship it to Shimano for repair. He called Shimano and they had him pull all of the line off of the spool and re-spool it. Problem solved. The knot he had tied onto the spool had come loose and the line was slipping and was sloppy, this would stop the DC cast control from functioning properly.
  4. G. Loomis 783C GLX
  5. I just purchased the Steez SV TW and it is really small. I don't see why they would make one any smaller.
  6. I had about 25 yards left over of a spool of 15lb and it worked just fine for leader. It did not last long as dedicated FC but it worked.
  7. I was at Cabelas last night to return/exchange a pair of Crocs (I got two different size shoes) and behind the return counter was a stack of the Pro Qualifier Spring Sale reels. I guess we had a nice enough day for people to get out and test them. I asked about it and people returned them because they said they were defective. I talked to the guys in fishing department about it and one said that they would not recommend this reel and the other said it's a 50/50 reel> 50% work and the other 50% do not. If you read the reviews on Cabela's and BPS's website, it sort of reflects this. I too have the Revo Wench Gen 4 and I use it for anything heavy. I think it would work great for anything other than fast moving topwater (buzzbaits, etc) and flipping. It is definitely a heavy duty reel and can handle pulling out some cabbage. It would also balance nicely with a longer rod. I picked up mine on Amazon for $150 when they had it on sale.
  8. I ordered mine from DSG and it came in a 10 foot long box. It was smashed and opened when it arrived but the rod was in mint condition. I plan to use mine for the same. Also, it surprised me how thick the butt of the rod is. I too can't wait to use it. I'd love to but I blew my budget. I am thinking the Shimano Bantam or something around that price will be my next pick up. We'll see.
  9. He got me once again..... I have one more reel to get before the end of the year but I think I'm ready.....
  10. Out of the two.... Dingers but if I had to choose a stick bait.... Senkos are still my favorite.
  11. T-Rigged with a 1/8 bullet weight and a 3/0 hook.
  12. I got give those a try when the time comes. They just look like fun.
  13. Ok. It's pretty cool. I stand corrected.
  14. I have been looking at one of these as well. I will be getting a kayak soon and it could come in handy. Only thing though, I think I could easily make one of these.
  15. X-Ray then MRI. The X-Ray will show if there is a tear and if fluid has built up in the shoulder. The MRI will give finer detail about the complete issue but I would start there. It could be an impingement as well, tendinitis or just a good old fashioned tear. Range of motion in the shoulder can dictate where to begin as well.
  16. Ok. There are few odd luxuries/indulgences in everyones life that we could live without (cell phones, computers, specialty tools, Starbucks, etc.).... So I picked up a Simplehuman Trash Can. This thing costs about $180 (I know it's crazy) and it is just a kitchen trash can but it's double the size of my old one, the lid moves up and down with a foot peddle, its also flat on top and the bags fit properly, are stored in trash can and are easy to change. My old trash can was a pain in the rear. I can't say $180 for a trash can is worth it but it has made an everyday choir that much easier.
  17. MH Extra-Fast and about 7' in length is what you should shoot for. So....Yes.
  18. I like the C4 but the Cardiff is just a better reel. If you are actually looking between a $140 and a $280 reel, I would suggest looking at the Shimano Calcutta>smooth and built like a tank.
  19. If you want that long and the 893C GLX would be great. Personally I don't like a rod that long for soft plastic. I would prefer, at length, to use it for flipping. The 853C may be better for soft plastics. My personal favorite is the 803C.
  20. It depends on which St. Croix Rod you are talking about. Some of the St.Croix line ups are little different from one to the next. Personally I think for a 6in Senko, you could use either one but I believe with a 5/0 hook, a six inch Senko weighs about 5/8oz. That pushes the upper limits of most M rods, St. Croix included.
  21. I was thinking of ordering a few things from these guys > found a coupon. I have never heard of them and wanted to know what you guys think of them. https://www.jandh.com Thanks for any info.....
  22. I can't speak for the other but the St. Croix Avid 7 MF is a fine rod. Great for light T-Rigged soft plastic and jigs. You might be able to use for jerk baits as well.
  23. Thanks for all the advice. After all the research and videos, I think I am going with the Steez TW106SV-HL. I hope it will be good for everything I was looking for in a workhorse reel.
