  1. Curado 70 or K https://www.another site.com/Shimano/Shimano-Curado-70-Series-Baitcasting-Reels or Daiwa Tatula SV TWS https://www.another site.com/Daiwa/Tatula-SV-TWS-Casting-Reel Enjoy.....
  2. Just curious, where did you find the Loomis IMX for $180ish?
  3. It's almost over but another site has some great deals on their website. I haven't ordered from them in a few years but they hit me for $100 worth of stuff that I couldn't pass up on. They have the Daiwa Tatula SV TWS for $139. I wish I hadn't bought some more Tatsu, Senkos, jigs, Fat Ikas, and a few Megabass Dark Sleepers and picked up that Tatula instead.
  4. My pick would be the St. Croix Legend Elite 7' MF. This should handle just about anything.
  5. Ebay. I bought two rods actually, the 7'11'' MH Mod Launcher and a 7'4'' Heavy X-Fast Pitching Rod. Are they greatest rods ever? No, but they get the job done and are just fun to fish. They are seconds. I called STP and asked what kind of defects could I expect. They said that it varied from the guides not being on straight to paint/varnish overspray. They had no way of telling me what their warehouse would be pulling. If you get a good one, it would be an excellent value.
  6. I picked up new a KVD Tour Crankbait rod for $60 but shipping was another $20. For the total price, it was well worth the money.
  7. It depends on the line and the setup. I usually can go almost 2 years without changing 12lb Invizx FC and 3+ years with Tatsu. Mono's like Big Game, Sunline Super Natural, Trilene XL, etc., it's usually every 3 months. With braid, it's just as needed. I also use 6lb Trilene 100% FC XL on spinning gear and it will usually will last year.
  8. I have a ton of jerkbaits but (knock on wood) I have never lost a 110. I have yet to find one either. The best I ever found, and it was floating in the middle of a lake, was a Imakatsu crankbait of some kind.
  9. I haven't used it in awhile but for hi vis braid I liked PowerPro Depth Hunter. I know it's multiple colors but the contrast in the line made it easy to spot in low light/night conditions. It also held its color pretty well. When it started to fade, like others, I used a marker to color it but I would cut a slit in the marker tip to run the line through.
  10. I wouldn't get too hung up on IPT. I wouldn't use a super fast reel with crankbaits but as long as you know the bait and reel, you should be able to judge how fast turn the handle. I use anything from a 5.x:1 to a 7.x:1.
  11. I have tried several and the 110 has always been the best with the LC Pointer in second. If you asked me 10-15 years ago which jerkbait is the best, I would say the technique is more important than the bait. But after fishing the 110 for serval years, if you can reel it in and pause that's pretty much all it takes for it to work. The other thing I love about the 110, the strikes I get it on it are generally vicious.
  12. I got them both at Cabela's. I actually went in to get some line to replace what I bought. I told the guy working in fishing department my story and they let me return it. I have to admit I felt awkward returning a more than half empty spool of line but they took it back without question. I ended up not getting any new line because they were out of just about everything. I picked up a few baits instead.
  13. I will give another vote for the Legend Glass. I have the 7'2'' M Moderate and it has been fantastic.
  14. This not really a designated frog rod by Loomis but the 844C GLX will throw a frog a long way and will also work well for a weightless senko. It's light, sensitive and has enough backbone to pull a fish out of some cabbage. I have also used it for jigs and heavy jerkbaits. It's one of the more versatile rods I own.
  15. I would think it should be pretty close to the same. It may load a little different but the power would be about the same. Take a look at Tackle Tours numerous rod reviews. They have a rod deflection chart with each review and this will show the power characteristics across the length of the rod. How accurate is it?> I have no idea but the info is there for you so you can judge for yourself.
  16. That was my first thought 2 months ago with 17lb but I have checked the guides and fished other lines and reels on the same rod with no issues for many hours. The 14lb line has been pulled from the reel it was on 3 months ago and I have been using Sunline Natural on that setup since with no issues with that line. I have also used Siege, Elite and 832 braid with no issues but I has since found other lines that like better. I just had hopes that Advance would be a better choice. I do still have the 17lb on a Revo Toro Beast and I have pulled a piece of it off to show (sorry, pic not the best) and a piece of 15lb CXX that was on the same rod spooled with a Shimano Calcutta 251. The CXX is from last year and the Sufix Advance was used for about an hour and spooled in September of this year.
  17. So I wanted to try something different in a heavy duty mono. I took some advice from a friend at work and tried Sufix Advance in 17lb and 14lb. It had some good reviews online and a few bad ones but on average it sounded like it would be worth a shot. I should have listened to the bad reviews. This line has OK memory and OK knot strength. The issue lies in that it doesn't last long. The abrasion resistance is horrible. I would make about 2 or 3 casts and line would be frayed. I would then have to cut the line and retie. Both 17lb and 14lb behaved this way and I wasn't fishing around rocks or heavy cover. Also, I checked the guides on my rods and also the reels and both are fine. It's not too often that I find something in the fishing world that I would truly give a thumbs down to but this line qualifies. If you have used it and have had good luck, all the better but I think I am going to stick to Big Game and P-Line CXX for this type of line.
  18. Kind of the same. I usually change Invizx about every other year and I have had Tatsu on my main setup for 4 years and it's still good as the day I got it but like you it's getting low and I will need to change it before next season.
  19. I picked up the 7'2'' M early this year as well. I have been eyeballing the same rod just purchased too. I think the 8'8'' Heavy would be too much and I have a 7'11 MH Crankbait rod so the 7'2'' may be the ticket. These rods are truly something special though.
  20. I have two that similar to what you are looking at.... I have the 803C GLX and Legend Elite 6'10'' M X-fast. Both are great rod. I think I like the Legend Elite a little better but it's pretty close. Another rod I like even better though is the G. Loomis 783C GLX. This rod can do whatever and it's perfect for jerkbaits> sensitive, soft tip, and just the right length to work a bait.
  21. The baitmonkey's doing the math to make sure I need one too.....
  22. I don't know if you want a rod for crankbaits but St. Croix will have select Mojo and Premier Glass rods for 40% off on December 6th.
  23. I have my I eye on a swimbait rod but not sure which one yet. Oh and few monstrous swimbaits to go with it.
  24. I think this is the guy. https://www.instagram.com/andrewhinkle/
  25. Guilty of using left handed retrieve on a spinning reels and going to left hand bait casters. I tried right handed bait casters at first and it just wasn't working for me. I picked up a left hander and it was like magic. I have tried using a right hander a few times since then and it just feels weird now.
