  1. I paid right around $280 for my Metanium about a month ago on japanlureshop so I'd check there before ordering off Ebay. And I got my reel in three days.
  2. I will agree with you that a lot of people go off of what they read rather than personal experience when commenting on posts like these, but I do not. We have got into this before so I'm not going to again. I just want to say that I think the White Ice and Micro Magics are good rods, but where I have a problem is quality control. I had a Micro Magic come straight from Duckett with the first guide on the side of the blank (I have a picture I will upload if anyone wants, I posted it on a thread a while back), and I had a White Ice snap right above the reel seat on a cast. I have also had the tips snap off of a couple other Micro Magics on hooksets. Like I said I think they are good rods and fish well, but there is no way some of their rods should make it out of the factory. If you do have one break or have a problem with one, Duckett's customer service is top notch tho.
  3. Guy just won the FLW Rayovac on Okeechobee with a pegged texas rigged swimbait and a punch skirt between the weight and the hook...
  4. Thanks for the clarification. Must have just happened recently as I tried to buy a 100MG7 from the Shimano rep I know a few months ago but he couldn't get it but he was able to get me a 50MG7. I wonder why they decided to discontinue it as well...
  5. The Core 50MG7 has not been discontinued. Only the 100MG and 100MG7. That came straight from a Shimano rep a few months ago, unless things have changed since then.
  6. X Infinity on the white carrot stick
  7. Powell Endurance is a much better rod imo. From build quality and component quality to sensitivity. The only thing the Duckett has on the Endurance is that it is lighter, but I feel the Endurance balances better, and balance is more important.
  8. I have a punching stick that I use for punching grass, a flipping stick that I use to pitch into laydowns, and I have a jig rod. My jig rod is for casting football jigs on ledges. There isn't one of those rods that can do all three of these things. You could have one that you could use for punching and pitching, but in my case, I use 20 lb. fluoro for pitching into laydowns so that takes one rod for those two techniques out of the equation. I like to have some tip (mod-fast) on my jig rod for deep water. I also throw 14 lb. fluoro on my jig rod. That's just an example of using multiple rods for jigs and an explanation of why I have three different rods for jigs.
  9. It should handle those techniques well. Although I'm not a fan at all of Duckett, a lot of people like them. If this is a technique that you use a lot, I would go custom. I can get you one at a great price! PM me if you want...
  10. I think year round. Now this is just my observation from following guys on Pickwick when they have pro events and watching them on tv. I forgot to add that they use braid on their spinning setups with fluoro leaders. Which most everyone does that anyways. I followed and watched each of the final 10 on the FLW Tour on Pickwick lake this past summer and every single one of them was throwing fluoro. They were throwing jigs, c-rigs, t-rigs, and crankbaits on ledges. That's why I believe it's year round and not just in cold weather.
  11. If I had to guess, Takahiro was using 7 lb. Sunline Sniper. That's the go to fluoro for drop shotting. I would think they were all using fluoro. I do not think that any of the pros use braid unless they are punching or throwing a frog. Some probably use it for flippin brush but from what I have watched most pros even use fluoro for that too.
  12. No way I would buy that, I don't see a Shimano label anywhere.....
  13. I'm not sure but most sales at retail stores start over on Sunday. Not that this one will but a lot of them are that way.
  14. I believe thehooligan has one. I'm sure he'll be here soon to help you out!
  15. They have completely replaced the Strike King 6XD for me if that's any help.
  16. Get some 3/8 oz chatterbaits with silver blades and take the skirt off. Then put your Keitech on the back and throw it that way. I don't even throw spinnerbaits or swimjigs anymore, I just throw this and it works great. Most bass haven't seen anything like it. It comes through cover awesome and has an erratic action to it. I think you will catch your fair share of fish if you try it out!
  17. I used to own the Powell Endurance 674C. If I didn't go with a different brand I would still have it. Best rod I have ever used for skipping jigs under docks and pulling them out!
  18. Megabass Vision 110+1 in French Pearl. Oh wait you said LC.....
  19. The action and transmission of the vibration through the glass blank allows for a different reaction of the bait when it deflects off glass, wood, etc.
  20. Glass allows for a more erratic action of the chatterbait. A heavy power glass rod has enough backbone to rip through grass and enough tip to keep the fish pinned. That's my opinion from experience with the glass rod.
  21. You didn't take Brett Hite's advice. He throws his on a heavy action glass rod. Medium heavy only works in open water but heavy power will work in open water and around grass.
  22. I throw mine on a heavy powered glass rod. Switched from a MH/F. Best switch I ever made.
  23. Btw to the OP...I would check on *** Omens and the Fenwick HMG at the $100 price before you pull the trigger on the Ducketts.
  24. Don't waste your time. I haven't used the new Micro Magic Pro but I used to have a boat full of Micro Magic and White Ice rods. The definition of terrible quality control. Their customer service is good but it's such a hassle when you get a rod ordered straight from Duckett with the first guide on the side of the blank and all the others positioned correctly...How does that even make it out of the Factory!?
  25. Exactly. Best used during the summer when the fish are bunched up on ledges. Prepare to be worn out throwing it. To me, it's one of those lures that you never get used to throwing because of it's weight and the action you have to use to work the bait. It killed on Pickwick this past summer! I would look into the Profound Outdoors spoon. It comes with better components (hook, split rings, etc.) and it's a whole dollar cheaper! Haha, it was $16 when it first came out and I bought them this past summer but looks like the price went up. From what I know most of the professional anglers use it over the Nichols spoon...
